LOUISIANA La. - If determination means anything, then Valentino Hart will be a big addition to Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun men's basketball program.
The 6-foot-9 power forward from Cowley County Community College in Kansas signed a grant-in-aid with coach Robert Lee's program and will be enrolled for UL classes in January, with the intention of hitting the court with the Cajuns next fall.
"Of all the visits I took, I chose them because of their winning program, their going to the NCAA Tournament and winning the Sun Belt Conference," Hart said. "The coaching staff were nice people, and they told me stuff I like to hear.
"They want their players to graduate and move on. It's a good environment."
Hart has had his plan in place for more than a year, since arriving at Cowley County with just 6 hours of credit after a year at Coastal Georgia.
He took an imposing 21 hours in each of two straight semesters and 8 more in the summer to advance his academic career.
