Mike, that's a bummer. If qyen were 4 starthat would two things. 4 star is 125 points vs 20 pts for 2 star. Also add another 90 points +/- or so for national ranking that a 4 star would be near. This one edit would pass quite of few teams (including Tech).

_ One factor in our recruiting ranking is Quen Griffen only getting 2 stars from Scout as they did not rate him earlier due to the belief he would go to JUCO ball. Their regional director admits he should be a 4 star guy. Also, Broadway is not included as transfers are not rated. I don't know if we are ahead of Tech or not with these two adjustments. It would be close however. Tech also has lots of JUCO players and Scout ranks many of these guys as three stars. In reality, I still believe all the rankings don't mean a lot when you get past the well known teams. _

well, that and the fact that Qyen is being judged by the past three Mr Footballs from South Panola as well. Say what you want and i am sure this gonna be taken the wrong way and is by not meant to be a knock at BJ at all and he knows this cause we have talked about it, but services like Scout and Rivals are flawed in the way they give stars. 90% of the people giving the stars never actually see these kids play except on film. Then you through in the fact that their Regional Directors are affiliated with a teams site, so what do they do, if a kid is interested in and is being recruited by Florida or MSU or Tenn or LSU, then he has to be worth more stars than a kid being recruited by UL. Give you a perfect example, the best WR in our state by far and its not even close is a kid named Jordan Taylor. He is from a fairly new HS and since he didnt get Yancy or Steve calling him or Mullen or Nutt calling him, he isnt ranked as high as the number 1 WR in Mississippi according to ALL recruiting sites, even though he had 2 times more yards than the number 1 kid did. Its not a fair system, and the best way in my opinion to handle it is to not give stars until the half way point of their senior year.

Here is another example of the fallacy of the star system. Tyrell Fenroy was ranked as a 3 star player going into his senior year at St. Charles Catholic. He had a good senior year but yet his star ranking dropped to a "2" after he committed to the Cajuns. He went on to play like a 5 star guy for four years.
