This guy sounds like a hell of an athlete, I wonder if he'll need a redshirt year since he's so raw.
Yes most definitely. Way too small to play DT which is where the staff wants him. Also needs work on technique because he plays too high and he has only played football for a year and a half. He has alot of upside, and 2 things you cannot teach and that is height and speed.
Pretty sure he says in the article that the staff wants him at DE

Josh mentioned that the staff wants him at DE. I'd prefer to have him at least work on DE for a while and use that athleticism on the end. We haven't had a productive, big DE ever and I'd like to see that guy who is 6'5" and 275 on the end. We have some decent DT players who are young and we will lose 3 DE's this year. Cajun t mentioned that DT was likely going to be his natural position but I'd love to at least see him start off at DE.
If this guy has even decent speed and can be coached at DE, it would be stupid not to do it. He has SEC size for the position!!

I don't know much about the coaching side because I've never seen Hud in a gameday setting, but we will definitely LOOK the part of a competitive college program if we can trot multiple 6'+ receivers and 6'5", 275 pound defensive ends out on the field.
In the 3-4 or 3-5, he would be called a DE playing over the tackle. In a 4-3 he would play inside tech over the tackle, so you can call him either. He will eventually play at 280-290 pounds. Playing football for only two years has a lot to do with his poor technique and playing to high. Proper coaching and a RS-season will help him improve his strength and technique. An athlete like Foster has a high-ceiling or reward if he can develop; I will take him over a lot of good HS DL that hit their ceiling after several years because they are not good athletes.
I sure the coaches will get him in the shoots and that for sure will get him playing lower and behind his pads. Personally he would most likely make it best at OL but I would love to see him bulk up and be a really athletic DT with speed. I am a little concerned with at DE, it may be big risk with possibly big reward at DE. Although he did show really good open field speed running down a RB from behind I did not see quickness and explosion that I would like to see from a DE. That is why I project DT.
