Thread: Louisiana_Lafayette (vs.) UL Lafayette

  1. Poll UL-Lafayette (vs.) UL Lafayette

I have been upfront with my distain for any usage of the city tag "Lafayette", so don't misconstrue the meaning of this poll. It will be used in a playoff of sorts later.

I recently saw a post asking for UL Lafayette to be used as opposed to UL-Lafayette. The implication was that no hyphen was more respectable than the hyphen.

    What are your thoughts?

    This is Upsetting

I have stated before that if the University (the only ones required to obey these "rules') must use one of the names we are "allowed" to use then it should be
Louisiana-Lafayette and ULL for short. UL Lafayette or UL-Lafayette only lead to being called Lafayette.

I agree with you 100% I am just doing this poll for a reference and comparison sake.

Truth be told a hyphen makes "one-name" official.
    The space still implies it.
    Both are edict breakers

This is Upsetting My thoughts are...

TO HELL WITH THE HYPHEN AND THE LAFAYETTE!!!!

We are the UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA!!!! The illegal law those excuses in br foisted on us says NOTHING about what fans, Alumni, and even sports media could address our University as. If the F___ING tiggers can't deal with it, that's THEIR PROBLEM and they should simply be IGNORED.

The University of Texas real name is the University of Texas at Austin. It should be the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

There must be a million businesses around the coutry that have a legal name but go by an everyday name. If the University of Texas at Austin wants to go by Texas more power to them. When someone says they are going to Academy Sports do you think that is all there is to their legal name?

We should adopt the name University of Louisiana at Lafayette. What academy sports has to do with the university's name I have not the slightest clue.

It would be retarded conversation to tell someone you saw 15 minites ago at UL, that you were at Academy Sports LAFAYETTE. It is just as retarded to say Lafayette every time you say University of Louisiana, give the person you are talking to a little credit. The credit someone with a higher education deserves.

I hope they don't put LA LAF, like they did during the SBC title game. That was a joke. I say they just put LOUISIANA

I am all for UL or Louisiana, but I gotta tell you the "dreaded tripple accronym" is 3 times better than LA LAF. In fact LA LAF is worse even than LA La.

I just can't stand anything that sounds like "Laugh" as a reference.

Does anybody know the specific statute that the legislature passed regarding the name change? It would seem that we need to get a local legislator to introduce a new bill to remedy the situation.
