I don't really understand RPI can someone explain how a win can hurt you?

50@ of your RPI is based on your opponents record, and 25% is based on THEIR opponents record.
Only 25% is based on your own record. Therefore, if you play a school with a bad record, your RPI goes down.....especially if they have played a weak schedule themselves.
RPI Rank: 76 SOS Rank: 117
At the time of this post.
RPI: 57
SOS: 92
Our oppenents went 11-6 over the weekend along with the win over MT really made our RPI jump.
All we can do is keeping winning.
All three Cajun opponents won last night, and we jumped 3 spots in the RPI.
LSU
Vanderbilt
Southern Illinoins
NC State beating UNC tonight would be really nice!
Also, Rice, LA Tech, and McNeese play.
BUT IF WE DON'T GET IT DONE IN DALLAS...NONE OF IT MATTERS!
Geaux Cajuns
Actually that is Denton not Dallas, but it is just about 30 minutes north of north Dallas or close to an 1 hour north of downtown dallas.Originally posted by Jared

I used to live in North Dallas and it was still a hike up to Denton to see the Cajuns play.

CAJUN WOMEN

Next year the women have to play a tougher schedule their RPI is very weak!!!!
Men rock steady!!!
LSU A&M won again last night against Georgia. Thanks to that win, Cajuns jumped a few spots in the RPI up to 52, last I checked. I cant believe I have to root for those dogs to win, but at least LSU A&M is affecting us in positive way.
Ragin Cajun RPI is up to 46 after tonights game. Hope the boys can keep it up, things are looking good!
____ on LSU A&M.
GEAUX CAJUNS!!!
Our RPI is at 45 right now!
How hight would our RPI have to be in order to get an at-large bid?
And is it safe to say that we are an official "bubble team" now?
41 now
Our RPI probaley needs to be at least mid 30's. But at the time of this post our RPI is 42. There are 32 conf.'s with each conf. having an automatic bid. There are 65 slots in the tourney, so that leaves 33 spots for at large bids. Our conf. RPI ranks 13 out of 32 conf.'s, that is higher than usual, usually we rank around 16th. If we run the table and lose in the SBC finials our D1 record will be 21-8 and our RPI will probaley be in the mid 30's, so a bubble-team. Probaley.
Agree with your thoughts. Definitely need 20 wins to even get a sniff. Realistically, SBC will only get 1 invite again this year, and that's the tournament winner. Improved RPI should help get a couple teams in the NIT. Until the conference rep starts winning a few games we will likely be stuck as 1 bid conf.
Just my 2 cents.
My cousin lives in Denton...but everyone in Arlington, Denton, etc. just says they live in Dallas...so I do the same. Like Metarie is to New Orleans.Originally posted by RaginDave
