Thread: Where are the Defensive Linemen & Linebackers?

Ragin' Cajuns Where are the Defensive Linemen & Linebackers?

Coach Bustle stated that he has 25 scholarships to offer...does he not think that filling some of those with down linemen and linebackers is a need at this time? Am I just confused or is this area of our football team being addressed? Help me out fellas!

I took this from another post I made, this list is per Coach Bustle during an interview with Jay Walker.

    WR 3 (2 HS, 1 JC)
    TE 2 (2 HS)
    TB 1 (1 HS)
    FB 1 (1 HS)
    QB 1 (1 HS)
    OL 3 (2 HS, 1 JC)
    ==================
    DE 2 (2 HS)
    DT 4 (2 HS, 2 JC)
LB 0 (maybe 1 if than can get the guy they want)
    CB 2 (2 HS)
    S 3 (2 HS, 1 JC)
    ===================
Punter 1 (either HS or JC)

so as you can see he does know we need DL. Those are the most difficult guys to get but I am sure we will see some joining us on signing day.

    Mr.Swamp...

Are any of these guys listed viable players for the upcoming season? To my understanding they all signed letters of Intent between 2003 & Present.

    Paul Eli
    Chris Cutler
    Darryl Blappert
    George Benson
    Elijah Nelson
    Curtis Isaac
    Rodeny Hardeway
    Clay Bridges
    Joseph Scott
    Joseph Hadnot
    Jordan Jackson

Paul Eli, DE, 2003 signee, cannot remember if Eli ever enrolled in school or not. I do remember that he was a Prop signee, no longer with the team (if he ever was).

Chris Cutler, C, a 2003 signee, is a Junior. Played DT his freshman year and saw playing time. He moved to offense this past season and was the backup center.

Darryl Blappert, DT, a JC signee in 2003, it was understood that Blappert had 2 years remaining to play but after all the paper work was said and done he only could play 1 year for us. Even if he had had both years he would have no eligibility left for 2005.

George Benson, DT, a JC signee in 2003, kicked off the team at the end of the 2003 season. Would have no eligibility left for 2005.

Elijah Nelson, DE, a 2004 signee, he redshirted this past season and will be a RS-Freshman for 2005.

Curtis Isaac, DT, a 2004 JC signee, he will be a senior in 2005.

Rodeny Hardeway, DE, a 2004 signee, he played during the 2004 season and will be a sophomore in 2005.

Clay Bridges, DT, a 2004 signee, decided not to attend UL (believe I read somewhere he was into raising horses or something along those lines).

Joseph Scott, LB, a 2003 JC signee, was kicked off the team in the spring of 2003, transfered to Jackson State.

Joseph Hadnot, LB, a 2004 signee, redshirted in 2004, will be a RS-Freshman in 2005.

Jordan Jackson, WR, a 2003 signee, redshirted in 2003, played this past season. Will be a RS-Sophomore in 2005.

    Swamphound,
Do you know if we're on any big time running backs? Do any of the guys we have in the fold now have a chance to be a "Ryan Moates" type back?

How about a RB that accounted for over 2,800 yrds in total offense and 37 tds this year? The offer is on the table.

Justin Taylor #64 will probably be getting a medical redshirt and return for one more year and be starting beside Marshall!
