Complete list of 2005 verbal commitments LOUISIANA La. — With the loss of several seniors from the University of Louisiana’s wide receiver corps over the last two seasons, one of the Ragin’ Cajun recruiting priorities was a junior college wide receiver.
Corey Fredrick said he can fill that bill.
“They said they needed a juco receiver to step in and be a leader,” Frederick said. “I figured I’d fit in perfect.”
Fredrick became the Cajuns’ eighth commitment of this year’s recruiting class this week, giving head coach Rickey Bustle a verbal nod after visiting the campus along with seven other recruits last weekend.
“I liked everything about it,” said the six-foot, 190-pound native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. “I liked the program, I liked the coaching staff and I got a chance to talk to a few of the players. I think I’ll fit in well.”
Fredrick played the last two years at Compton (Calif.) Community College, and finished with 56 catches for 641 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore in earning second-team All-Western States Conference.
He set a Compton CC school record in this year’s second game for most receptions in a single game when he grabbed 13 passes against Cerritos College.
