Hey no reason to get ugly, I am just saying this kid is in class with Bakri Hollier and other athletes from the football team along with the coaches. My concern is what kind of message does this send.

This could get ugly. If they wanted to look around, they should have told the kid up front. And just keep recruiting him. Shouldn't have said u have scholarship and later yank it back. But, this is one of the tough things that happens when a new coach gets hired and there are existing commitments.

Also, this is only one side of the story.

We've just gotten through a pretty ugly thread about spring bb recruits that was threadjacked by someone close to one of the players acting as if we didn't appreciate him enough.

I'm more concerned about what kind of message THIS type of in-house bickering sends which is far worse, in my opinion.

Your concerns cannot be answered in this forum by a bunch of arm chair quarterbacks and homers (and I resemble that remark).

Please take no offense by my comments, but I see where this is going and I just want to avoid another 10+ pages of hurt feelings.

And for the record, I'll adopt ulforlife's post because I feel the same way and I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone here who feels drastically different.

We'd love to have him. Trust the coach, but do what's best for you.

I'd hate to think anything here would sway a recruit away from us.

_ OK let's try this again. Nick committed to the Cajuns in June. New coach comes and the mother ask me if she thinks the new coaches will honor the commitment. I told her I don't know. Coaches affirm his commitment, he has a full scholarship. Nick makes his visit last weekend. He is posting to facebook about his visit and how excited he is. At the end of the visit, Coach speaks to him about a gray shirt. Wow, way to put a fence around Louisiana. If this happens do you think any of his team mates at Acadiana will believe anything our coaching staff tell them. What do you think the coaches at Acadiana or any other Lafayette high school will think. I understand recruitment is not an exact science but here is a kid from Lafayette who was all pumped to play for the Cajuns had agreed to. Now he doesn't really have time to make any other visits to any other schools that could have been interested. This is really leaving a rotten taste in my mouth. I had been talking up the Cajuns to this parent when they were looking at Tulsa and McNeese. I love the recruits we are getting, but really, here is a two star recruit from the state champion Acadiana in Lafayette. I expect the coaches to honor their commitment. _

Considering that State does it to kids in Acadiana and elsewhere in the state on a regular basis and the coaches say nothing I guess they won't say anything in this case either. And as far as Hollier, I'm not worried what he thinks since he has been stringing UL along while holding out for that scholarship to State that doesn't seem likely.

Personally, I would have honored the scholarship offer but then I'm not a D1A coach that has been hired to turn around a mediocre program.

Good luck to Nick. I think this was a misstep by the staff. But I only know the Smith side of the story.

I'm not sure how good he is, but if he was in fact told his commitment would be honored it should have been.

Best of luck to Nick. These things happen. Who truly knows the perspective and motives of the staff with regards to the delay.

It's unfortunate, but theres no need for people to blow this out of perspective.
