This has been beat to death on our boards but i wanted your opinions on something.

    1. How does the NCAA's ruling on Cam Newton effect recruiting in the future? Their ruling basically says you can ask for money as long as the kid CLAIMS he doesnt know. Of course, in the SI article Cam said he chose Auburn "cause the money was too good." Basically did the NCAA say that you can pimp your kid as long as he denies it?

    2. What kind of pro career does he have? We all knew he wouldnt be back cause the NCAA is not, no matter what the are saying publicly, done with this. I dont think he is gonna have a Hall of Fame career by no means. To me he will be Randall Cunningham 2.0. He will thrill us in some games, but the difference is when a 6'5 275lb NFL guy hits you, you will go down. He isnt a very good passer so where does that leave him. In your opinion, who has the better career Newton or Tebow

No doubt Tebow will have a better career, he is a student of the game and is more proven, Newton was really a one yr wonder.

The lines are being blurred in the NCAA. The big money makes it hard for the NCAA to come down hard on anyone. Fast forward 20 years. Is anything the SEC is doing any different than what SMU did?

Or what Oklahoma did with Marcus Dupree for that matter? Each year the SEC has that team they protect above all else. When Bama won the national title, how the heck does a team go 8 straight games without a holding penalty?

Big time college football is becoming minor league professional football. Money flows. The only way someone gets in trouble is if they do something stupid, make someone angry, or make money or take money without the NCAA's seal of approval. The Ohio State situation is a microcosm of college football. Why where they in trouble? They sold items and didn't cut the NCAA in. They still played in the bowl game, and if they win their appeal will miss zero games. And if they do miss games, the schedule is so easy, it may not matter.

    1. NCAA is looking the other way for $EC schools. This lack of action sets a precedent. I see it as a open house invitation for parents to independently act as agents. "Son, I'll let you know when we have the right school". To me, the NCAA seemed just as interested in MSU recruiting for blowing the whistle. Completely absurd to think that the father would solicit MSU and not Auburn.

    2. Cam has a year experience a a professional football under his belt at Auburn. He had a lot of pressure and did find a way to focus on the game. If he keeps this same focused tenacity playing pro at the NFL level, he has a chance to be very good.

I am offshore right now the other day one of the guys out here was talking about a very well off Auburn alum. They where talking about Cam. My buddy said Cam must have cost Auburn a pretty penny. The Auburn alumn said yep and worth every penny. I think he said somewhere around 200,000

The Marcus Dupree deal was interesting. No one blinked an eye at money trading hands back then. It still happens today. Now they just blink for a second before it happens.

I think the NCAA is no different than most of our legal system today. You show up with a public defender and your chances are looking pretty bad. You show up with a law firm who's name takes five minutes to rattle off and things look a little better.

Bottom line is the NCAA doesn't have the time, money, will etc. to go to bat against a school that is going to lay down potentially tens of millions in their defense.

The rest of us....... Well there is only so much a public defender can do.
