FAU wins Shula Bowl over FIU
MIAMI GARDENS · Florida Atlantic won on the field but fell short in the stands Saturday.
The Owls used two second-half touchdowns by wide receiver Roosevelt Bynes to beat Florida International 17-10 to take the third annual Shula Bowl.
But the attendance of 16,262 at Pro Player Stadium left the Owls 21,079 short of what was needed to meet the NCAA-mandated average of 15,000 per home game.
That leaves the status of FAU's move to Division I-A in question, but FAU's seniors made sure there was no question about the winning tradition they created for the program, as the Owls finished their fourth season 9-3.

If they market right and build off the 9-3 season they should be able to start off with a good fan base next year.
