Thread: Next Year on Offense

UL Football Next Year on Offense

This is me just taking a guess at who is gonna be our starters next year. There are a couple of holes but, because our younger guys have had to step up they will have much more experience out there and I think that will be what gets us on the up and up.

    Offense:

QB: Jerry Babb (our rock), Desomeaux, (player to be named later)
    RB: C. Johnson, D. Lindon, C. Ruben (I think he'll beat out J. Harrison)
FB: B. Jenkins, JC player , Wisler ( I don't think Wisler is ready yet)
Wide outs: Bill Sampy (gets his year back), Jordan Jackson (with more time he'll be our guy) Ray Givens (young but has shown effectiveness)Keven Robbins is athletic but needs to show more maturity if he expects to be in a starting slot.
LT: Cox (another rock, One year more , One year better)
LG: Hodges (another rock, showed inconsistancy at times but still good)
C: Not sure on that one losing Ronnie hurts, (most likely JC guy, Cutlers not ready)
RG: Ernest (needs work but I still think he'll be the guy)
RT: I'm gonna say JC guy (Newman needs more time, he didn't really impress me)
TE: Xavier Cambell, K. Belton, E. Jones (I've heard good things about jones, he just needs more time, but I think he'll be a player)

Thats just my take maybe its a little to early for speculation but, unless some freshman step it up I have a feeling that these are gonna be our guys. Now if we get that wideout from the JC, who knows, he could have an impact. I think next year because of experience we will be better than we were this year on both sides of the ball.

I've been hearing rumors of getting some local transfers, anybody hear some of that too. What I mean by transfers is guys who we recruited locally but went to other school and are now interested in transferring to UL. I've heard about a couple of Carencro guys.

    Geaux Cajuns.

How about sharing some names? Also, what about Abdule Levier? I think he'll be listed above Lindon and Rubin. Is Ross Rix not a consideration to play some at FB? I also think Sniewski will be listed above Desormeaux (at least to start the season).

Wasn't Newman a true freshman? Gotta go with Newnam. What happened to the "Brown?" kid at wide reciever?

I'm looking for some surprizes coming out of the weight room.

I hope Zach Leger gets a shot

    FB: Jenkins, Rix , Wisler
    WR: Sampy, Robbins, Brown
WR: Jackson, Givens, Frank Johnson (grey shirt from last years recruiting class)
    LT: Cox, Fails
    LG: Hodges, Chance
    OC: Cutler, ????Gillis
    RG: Ernest, Leger
    RT: Newman, ????Leonards
    TE: Cambell, Belton, Jones

Levier needs to prove he can hold onto the ball.

Swamp do you or anyone else around here know if we are looking at any JC running backs?

I forgot about Leveir your right. He'll most likey beat out Rubin, good call on that one. Hate to break the news guys but, Sneiwski is transfering so he's out. So Desormeaux will be number 2 most likely. Zach Leger needs to improve alot, personally I don't think he will. Eddie Brown had acedemic problems so I'm not gonna count him. Oh and Ross Rix too, I also forgot about him, he'll be another addition at FB, personally I think he'll have his breakout year this next year. I think they'll go after a JC center, because I don't think cutler is gonna make it, he needs to gain some weight he's just too light in the pants. I'm telling you they are looking for people to challenge newman, so don't be suprised if he is the back up next year.

The guys I've heard is interested was Garrin Jim from Carencro, but thats just hear say I'm not sure. And I've heard a couple of disgruntled players from ULM too but no names there.

fullback but not running back. I cannot figure what we are going to do with 5 running backs. Levier, Lindon and Johnson all should have a year to redshirt but I cannot see any of those three doing so because they IMHO are the top three. Maybe Lindon will move back over to fullback.

If it is true about Sniewski transfering (which does not make sense unless he is going to a 1-AA) then the team will need to add a JC QB also because I cannot see them relying on a redshirt freshman and a true freshman as our only backups. With the style of play Babb has, we need a reliable backup. Not saying that Desomeaux cannot do the job but I was dissappointed in most of our Redshirt freshman (production wise) this past season.
Did Jim ever enroll at McNeese? If so, he will have to sit out. Carencro's Demarcus Carmouche DT, signed with ULM last spring, I do not think he played this past season and Redshirted.

If Luke Senewski would have played those last 3 games we would have won all three. The defense played well enough for Louisiana to win. A quarterback with a broken rib should have never been playing.

I disagree, I think a better statement would be that if Desormeaux would have been ready and could have played we may have had a better chance to win than with Babb with an injury. Why? Sniewski is a very different style QB than Babb. Our offense is designed for QB's like Babb and Desormeaux (mobile QB's). Luke may have done well to finish a game or sub for one game but for a 3 game stretch, I am not as sure as you are. I guess like Jake subbing for Brooks in those last three games, we will never know cause it did'nt happen.
