"Acctually coming out of high school, he wanted to go to Ole Miss and another Big 12 school, then decided to goto Mcneese. Now he wants to move back to be closer to his family and stuff. From what I understood, he doesnt have the greatest grades, buthe believes that the year that he'll sit out with his transfer, he will be able to get his grades together."

Actually ToughGuy, this staff offered Garrin to sit out this semester and try to get eligible to sign in 2005. he could have done the samething as Frank Johnson, but he wanted a scholarship. Thus he signed with McNeese St. He is presently enrolled at McNeese St. trying to become eligible. He is not on scholarship, so I don't believe he needs a release to enroll here in the spring. I don't know what this staff thinks about him wanting to come to Lafayette. We will just have to see what happens.

"Babb has decent stats but that based on short throws-lacks arm strength and accuracy downfield and that hurt us this year. Could easily have been 9and 2 with a Jake Delhomme type QB with touch on long passes down the sidelines and quicker release, strong arm and accuracy on the move and good pocket presence.Saw desormeaux play several games and has stronger arm than Babb but neever saw deep passes only slants and never saw any speed like Vick, please, with that type speed he would't be wearing a cajun jersey. There is a QB in the area who has all the above attributes-threw for over 1800yds this year and ran for close to 900 yds. in spite of 4or 5 dropped passes every game and who brought his team back from 3touchdowns back numerous times playing with a group of public school kids who played their heart out not allstars like some other local teams. In the first round playoff game against a New orleans area team that was huge and had a record of 8 and 2, he threw for 256 yds and three touchdowns and ran for 156 yds and three touchdowns for a win!"

CajunFan,I don't know where this nonsense about Babb not having a strong arm comes from, but your statement is incorrect. I've watched Babb since high school and many a practice,he can throw a thirty yard out pattern on a rope. His arm is much stronger then you give credit. You must be refering to Lane. In regards to Desormeaux, I watched him run 50yrds down the line last year against Tuerlings. He can move!He is just bit slower then Fourroux, but not much. And most people, including this staff felt Desormeaux was the best QB in that district period. Now you know my opinion on Fourroux, but you claim it's politics?
I guess it's politics that every Div.1 program in this state and the surrounding two states have not offered him at QB yet? Wow,now that's a conspiracy of Michael Moore proportion. You do yourself and Fourroux a disservice by making such statements on these boards.

By the way the kid the Cajun staff have offered, is more polished as a passer then the previous QB's at that school Howard,Babb,Lane and Wolford. And as a runner,he is between Babb and Wilford. These statements came from one of the best high school coaches in the state and his offensive coordinator.

Guru, with all due respect, I fully agree with CF. It's not a personal attack on Jerry, just facts. How many deep balls did he complete vs. how many attempts? Our receivers were open all night deep against Troy and he couldn't hit them (he completed the one to Kimmie Lewis and that was it as I recall). A gentleman sitting behind me at the game even stated that when Jerry throws the ball deep it resembles a punt. I'll admit that he has gotten a lot more accurate with his passes than last year, but his arm strength is not near as strong as Sniewski, Desormeaux, or even Forroux.

Jerry's biggest threat is his ability to run. The last few games of the season his inability to fully utilize his legs due to his injuries really hurt us mainly because of his lack of ability to stretch the field.

In regards to Desormeaux vs. Fourroux, I think they are both very talented athletes. I too had the privilige of watching the two of them go head to head a couple of times. IMHO Fouroux outplayed Desormeaux offensively both times and that was when he was a Soph. and a Jr. I think Desormeaux would make a great DB, but I think Fourroux is the better QB. Fourroux has a pocket presence that most QB's don't even have in college. He posted the #'s he did this past season without the luxury of any "true" receivers. I can only imagine the numbers and the schools looking at him had he played at a "high profile" school such as STM. And yes, you are correct that it is amazing why no one else is looking at him. Then again, how many schools were beating down Jake Delhomme's door?

And finally, in regards to Hundley, I can't honestly say I've seen him play so I'm not about to judge his ability. But I cannot honestly believe that his families (yes I know who his family is) well deserved financial success had nothing to do with his being offered a scholarship. Is that a bad thing? Not at all. UL needs all of the financial backing it can muster. But I'd just like to see Fourroux have a fair chance to compete with Desormeaux and Hundley and settle who the best QB is.

I know I'm at not going to get anywhere trying to convince you of anything and that's O.K. But just watch for yourself next season for that second game. If Mcneese can put a few decent players around him, he will give our defense all it can handle and then some. And if I'm proved wrong so be it, but I have no fear that I will be.

With all due respect,it's not what you believe, but what you know is indeed fact. With all honesty,do you know for sure that he was offered because of his families potential donations to the program? I don't think you do and that is a disservice to this staff and his family to make such an accusation based upon your opinion. Again, the UL staff is not the only Div1 program not to offer him. In fact, to my knowledge none have to this date. I think it's only fair to mention that fact, when second guessing this staff.

As for Desormeaux, I spoke to several coaches that game planned against both young men. One coach Lotief, at North Vermilion(a personal friend) stated that Desormeaux was the better QB prospect. So I have to go with the opinion of coaches and Bustle, instead of a few disappointed fans.

Finally, Fourroux will have an opportunity to prove all those who doubted his ability. Just like Jake Delhomme, he will be given that chance at some program.
I will measure his play against Div.1 programs, just like the Cajun quarterbacks. Do you know for sure if McNeese St. is our the 2005 schedule? I have not heard about this development.

Guru, look I'm not trying to get into a "peeing" contest with you because obviously we are "peeing" in two different directions. With your "disservice" comment I get the impression you think I'm accusing the University and whatever "staff" you belong to of siding with Hundley because of his families ability to contribute monies to UL. Read my comment again, please. I never said I knew for SURE. I said I had a hard time believing that it had NO bearing whatsoever on his offer. If you look closer I also said I didn't think that if it WERE true that it was a bad thing. Do you truly believe that things like that don't happen with "this staff" or university? If your child was in the same situation and you could make a contribution to help out his school wouldn't you do it? How is that supposed to be a disservice to his family I ask you? What I don't understand is why this seems to offend you?

To make my point as clear as possible to you...I am saying that I feel that had Fourroux been the QB playing at STM and his family had money to offer UL I'm pretty certain Fourroux would be the one getting the offer and that's based on his talent more than the potential contributions. And like I said earlier I've never seen Hundley play so I WILL NOT judge his talent.

As for your friend Coach Lotief's opinion, was that this season he said that? And if so, I find that quite surprising. In any case, my opinion of Desormeaux vs. Fourroux is based on what I've seen of both on the field. Am I an expert? NO! But I was also attacked when I went on the Saint's message boards saying that Jake Delhomme would end up being the better QB out of he and Brooks. How many times have you yourself seen Derrick play? If none, you really should try to get a hold of a few games from this past season and judge for yourself. I'd love to know how many times Coach's Bustle, Christophel, and whoever is in charge of recruiting have seen Fourroux play.

The McNeese info comes from what I consider to be a pretty reliable source. It is NOT a done deal, but from what I hear it is a good possibility that it will happen on the second game of the season.

I say....Let the best QB play! If Desormeaux is a better player than Babb, and understands the offensive better than Babb, it's a no brainer! I was very disappointed this past year in our performance! Almost had me wondering if "Bustle" is the right man!

Cajuns4me, I’m not trying to get into a ~~~~ing contest with you about your own opinion. But, I would not have made the comment about Hundley’s family on open board. I don’t believe in guessing or speculating about someone’s family on open board.
To me, even if your speculation is true, other people read this board. I don’t think you are naive enough not to understand the implications of that statement. Some current players on this team post on this board and it’s not fair to any incoming athlete to have opinions
Formed about their scholarship offer from a message board. Perhaps we come from different backgrounds, so we will just have to disagree on that statement.

As for my statement concerning Desormeaux and Fourroux, those comments from several coaches are from last year. This same discussion took place last year, so I asked several coaches their opinion on both kids. Like you, I have my own opinion, but I wanted to ask coaches that have game planned against both schools. These guys have been coaching a long time, so I respect their opinions. As for Fourroux, I’ve seen him play once last year and twice this year against Tuerlings. I never stated that Derrick has not improved or does not have ability to play at the next level. What I did state is that I cannot find fault with our coaching staff for not offering him to play the quarterback position in their system. Especially when no other Div1 program to my knowledge has done so either. It’s nothing personal to me and it shouldn’t be for you guys either. I don’t know how many times this coaching staff has watched Fourroux play, but you should call and ask him Friday on SportsNote. Of course he cannot answer questions about athletes by name, but perhaps you can refer to him as the kid from Erath.

Recruiting needs to get better.......enough said. You can't gain ground on any programs if you've only got like 2 coaches searching for players. We need to step it up and hire. Hire is the key word. We need to have a "team" working around the clock promoting our program when its not recruiting season and when its time to recruit, we need to get after it. Signing like 5 "all Teche" area players is not going to get the job done. Recruit should be the key word to focus on this offseason......once again I will fill out an application.....

I hope the staff can continue to attract recruits from Texas like my old man used to. I know Jennings is in Houston and Crist is now in D/FW. Those two along with Jenkins and Gibson do a good job of getting visits.
    Where is Rebowe recruting?
It'll be interesting to see where we "pull" from... DLine must be addressed

Hey CajunFan64 you state that Zach Leger needs to improve a lot and you don't think he will. Why do you think he will not improve and where does he need to improve?
