PCC: Pond has happy homecoming
The Flowing Wells grad has blossomed in the Pima CC football program.

There is no looking back for Bobby Pond, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Two years ago, after graduating from Flowing Wells High School, Pond went off to play football at Adams State College, an NCAA Division II team in Alamosa, Colo., only to leave after a semester.
He returned to Tucson and enrolled at Pima Community College, where his career has blossomed. He's close to his goal of playing for an NCAA Division I-A school.
"I left some friends behind (at Adams College), but overall I am really happy," Pond said. "It was my choice. I am real happy I came back."
Pima is also. Pond finished tied for third with Terry Larsen in pass receptions with 34 for 391 and three touchdowns.
"He will probably end up with a Division I-A or II scholarship," Pima coach Jeff Scurran said. "He came back and worked hard. That looks like it's going to happen."
Division I-A schools Louisiana-Lafayette, Northern Illinois and Nevada are interested in Pond, as is I-AA Illinois State.
"He catches well, he runs well and he blocks well," Scurran said. "He's a backup deep snapper. He can be a place-kicker. He can punt. He's an all-around good football player.
