UL Football Lennox commits to Cajuns

Complete list of 2005 verbal commitments

Jacob Lennox from Baton Rouge's Parkview Baptist has committed to play for UL. He is expected to play DB, I believe he also played QB for Parkview. His former teammate, LB Brenton Burkhalter, was a 2004 recruit.

P.S. this was reported on KLFY

  2. Default Parkview's Lennox commits to Louisiana-La.

The talent pipeline from Parkview Baptist to the University of Louisiana at La. continues to flourish.

A year after two former Parkview Baptist players signed with UL another of the program's standout players is on the way.

Senior quarterback Jacob Lennox, who finished 24-3 as a starter, said in part because of the response he received from Brenton Burkhalter and Bobby Fails -- former Parkview teammates who redshirted at UL in 2004 -- he's decided to rejoin his friends and commit to the Ragin' Cajuns.

"They told me they loved it over there and it was great,'' Lennox said of Burkhalter and Fails. "They think the program's up and coming and is going to be good for years to come.''

The addition of Lennox, a 6-foot-1, 180-pounder gives UL its fifth commitment of the recruiting period. Lennox said he will take his official visit this weekend and take part in the Cajuns first big recruiting weekend.

    This is great.

Developing relationships with programs such as Parkview, STM, etc. is really smart.

Now, ever since Bustle got to Acadiana, I've been waiting for some serious DT recruits. Still waiting.

Swamp I'm with you there. We must solidify the DT position this year in recruiting.

  5. UL Football Parkview QB commits to UL

LOUISIANA La. — Louisiana football coach Rickey Bustle has gone back to familiar turf to secure the Ragin’ Cajuns’ fourth commitment of this year’s recruiting season.

Parkview Baptist quarterback/defensive back Jacob Lennox gave Bustle a verbal commitment Monday, joining former Parkview teammates Bobby Fails and Brenton Burkhalter on the Cajun roster. Burkhalter, a linebacker, and Fails, an offensive lineman, signed with the Cajuns last February.

Lennox was the Baton Rouge squad’s starting quarterback for the last two seasons and led Parkview to 13-1 and 11-2 records, including a Class 3A semifinal berth last season and a quarterfinal appearance this year.

But the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder will likely wind up at free safety for the Cajuns.

“He likes to play the game, and he doesn’t care where he plays,” said Parkview coach Kenny Guillot. “If you put him at free safety, he’ll love it, put him on the kickoff team, he doesn’t care. He just likes to play.”

Lennox rushed ran for 960 yards and threw for 1,222 more as a senior while completing 55 percent of his throws and accounting for 37 touchdowns in the Eagles’ double-slot, multiple-option offense.

He ran for 816 yards, a 5.8 average and 13 scores and threw for 1,246 yards and 15 touchdowns with only three interceptions in his junior year, when he earned 3A All-State honors and Baton Rouge All-Metro honors along with being named Offensive MVP in District 8-3A.
