  1. UL Basketball Ragin' Cajuns begin rough road stretch tonight

Louisiana will only play once at home in its next five games.

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun basketball team will be tested on the road tonight, but that won’t be anything unusual by the time the next couple of weeks are over.

The Cajuns (2-1), coming off a strong showing in a 75-61 home-opener victory over Rice on Saturday, will face Georgia State’s Panthers (1-2) in a 5 p.m. (CDT) contest at the GSU Sports Arena in the first half of a two-game road trip.

UL will then head to a Wednesday outing against Charlotte (2-1), and will eventually play four times on the road in their next five games. And, if the first two challenges aren’t enough, the other two road contests come against No. 2-ranked Kansas on Dec. 11 and 16th-ranked North Carolina State on Dec. 15.

“This team is going to be challenged,” said Cajun head coach Robert Lee, “but this team is always confident. These guys have confidence in their ability to play. It doesn’t matter who we play if we do what we’re supposed to do.”

The Cajuns did that on Saturday, forcing Rice into 31 turnovers and jumping out to a 14-point halftime lead. UL got a balanced scoring effort with four starters scoring at least 14 points.

Tiras Wade led the squad for the third time in three games this year with 16 points, while Chris Cameron and Orien Greene each had 15 and Brian Hamilton had 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

UL also shot 50 percent from the floor, but had a season-low five three-pointers and was 5-of-17 outside the arc — an area where the host Panthers are also right at home.
