Success is renewing coach's contract for $1.25M with a $150K bonus for beating both SEC schools on the Cajun schedule....I know I'll get hammered for that view!

Great view! That is the mind set we need to all have. Times are a changin for UL. The future is getting brighter every day.

I think you took C4L too literal, but I am very confident in Hudspeth. He will succeed and we will have to deal with that success in one way or another. _
I agree. I say cross that bridge when it gets here. Also, I think if Hudspeth is having to be replaced because some bigger school hired him away after a successful run in Lafayette, that would be a bridge everyone would be happy to cross.

Zephyr, I am only half serious. I do believe that if HUD were to bring UL to 4 or 5 bowl games in his first contract then you would see the money available to pay him $750k or more. We are in a very unique situation here at UL. UL athletics have been neglected for a long time, we are just now starting to see what an athletic department with a vision has to offer. Each program is moving forward and once football takes off we will all be in for a fun ride.

We always like to compare ourselves to La Tech, well they are at or near their ceiling when it comes to potential. While we have never even attempted to reach our potential until DOC S took over. Instead under Doc A we were just surviving for the past 35 years as an athletic department. I don't think everyone realizes how many lost alumni and money we will reclaim once football starts to win. If HUD can have the success here that he had at North Alabama, a 66-21 record over 7 years, UL will explode.

I don't think we could ever keep HUD from jumping ship for a BCS program, but what I am saying is that I hope HUD builds this program into one that is stable and successful. I don't want to see him win 3 years in a row and then leave, I wouldn't blame him if he did though. But I hope to see him stay here for 5-10 years and create that winning tradition that we have lacked.

I agree with you C4L; let's see what this program, and by that I mean all facets, coaching staff, administrators, and fans, can achieve! Who knows what our cap is, we have NEVER tried to reach our potential. Until now.
