Lee’s aggressive style is producing in the early going

Coaches don’t like it when you refer to their basketball teams as run-and-gun, and Steve Spurrier already has a lock on using fun-and-gun as he heads to South Carolina.

That doesn’t leave a lot of similar monikers for Louisiana’s basketball team, but we’ll need to come up with one in a hurry if Saturday’s performance is any indication.

The Ragin’ Cajuns are definitely running through their first three games, and they had all the fun they wanted Saturday at the expense of Rice’s Owls.

Maybe they’ll start spouting witty remarks when they open Sun Belt Conference play, having fun with puns-in-the-Sun as they run-and-gun.

In contrast to many of past Cajun teams, this unit has its fun when the opposition has the ball.

As far as guns are concerned, they’re usually associated with crimes, and the larceny the Cajuns are displaying is ... well, criminal.

UL forced 31 turnovers and took 17 steals from the Owls in Saturday’s 75-61 win after collecting 21 turnovers from both LSU and La. Tech in the Louisiana Classic tournament. That’s one turnover every 77 seconds Saturday and one every 98 seconds this season.
