....our WR coach is Jerry Mack from University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Read the write up on him from the UAPB website. This cat has been a WR coach for 6 years at Delta State, Jackson State and Central Arkansas, while he also has experience as a passing game coordinator, offensive coordinator and QB coach. He also knows the SBC pretty well as a player at Arkansas State and has spent time in the NFL as an intern with the Bills and NY Jets. Just my opinion. I know we are also looking at former Kentucky State Head Coach Fred Farrior
Jerry Mack is considered one of the bright young minds in college football the country. Mack has wrote several articles for the American Football monthly and AFCA organizations. He has been selected for 2 NFL Bill Walsh internships; 2008 Buffalo Bills and 2009 New York Jets. He has participated in the NCAA Coaches Academy and served as speaker for the Glazier Football Clinics across the United States.
Mack will serve as Offensive Coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He comes to UAPB from the University of Central Arkansas, where he spent two seasons as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator.
In his first season at UCA, the Bears finished with a 10-2 record and one of the Southland Conference's most potent offenses. He had two receivers named All-SLC Honorable Mention – including Eric Ware, who was later signed by the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL.
Mack came to UCA in the summer of 2008 following a stint as wide receivers/tight ends coach at Jackson State since 2006. At JSU, Mack was also responsible for both punt and kick return teams in addition to serving as the team's academic coordinator liaison. In 2007 he helped coach JSU to a SWAC championship and was selected to coach in the Heritage Bowl postseason all-star game. While at JSU, Mack worked with Jaymar Johnson who was drafted in the 6th round by the Minnesota Vikings.
He also assisted with the receivers and coached the running backs at Delta State University. Delta State finished with the #1 offense in the Gulf South Conference three years in a row, while constantly being a nationally ranked team.
Mack played one season at Jackson State in 1999 before transferring to Arkansas State in 2000, where he lettered as a wide receiver for the following three seasons. Mack is originally from Memphis, TN and married to Starlett Mack. They have two children Jaden (5) Skyler (3)
