With that outlook,I don't see how a player who is not on scholarship and will only be a scout team player is an asset. We are now having to turn down talented players b/c we don't want to cut a walk-on. If it's more than a game, then that means tough decisions will have to be made at some point.

The question is, who are you considering trimming? Brady Thomas is of little importance in this discussion since he's not on scholarship. That would mean that you were referring to one of the other 5 we do have on scholarship in which 3 are upperclassmen. That is where I think some of us would find that inappropriate.

I may have missed something in the coverage of all this, but I thought Billups was hesitant in coming being he would be a 7th qb and that's why we aren't showing as much interest as if we desperately needed a qb? If not, I'm a jacka**.....

Your opinion doesn't mean much on this board right now, IMO. You keep blasting the staff for not wanting local players, but it seems to be the other way around, local athletes don't want to play here.

Your boy Bakari and Micah may want to think about going to LSU when they only have 12 open scholarships and 21 commits. The best 12 will get the full rides and the rest will have to hope they get a gray shirt opportunity. Both Micah and Bakari would have full rides to start at UL.

But I guess, they are all about image and not about playing.

But I thought we didn't want local kids. Isn't that what some (especially a couple of AHS fans) keep saying?

Greyshirt for Guy would be the preferred method here. Apparently Hud doesn't want to bank any scholarships for next year. What is he planning? Major coup in 2012? Hopefully one of our QB's decides they want to take up a job as flight attendant and leaves an open scholarship for Guy to devour.

It is not an opinion about Tatford being offered as an OL...It's the facts. I said I can't speak for Quave on that matter, but I have heard that he too was being looked at as an OL.

And thats even behind a criminal. Jeremy Hill has not lost his LSU offer even though he was arrested. Purple and Nacho Cheese, means you do what you please.

Quentin Thomas at Breaux Bridge couldnt play football all year due to suspension and placement in JASEP(?) and he's still committed to LSU.

This is not the pros. We have made a promise to every single one of the kids we have ever offered a scholarship too. If asked to choose between losing games or losing our integrity, I'll choose games every time.

I want Guy to be a Cajun, but not at the expense of another student athlete. _
This is not directed at you, but all in this discussion. Let's be very careful what we say about local athletes as for as this staff wanting them. Getting local athletes to come to UL is a priority for this staff. There is no need to criticize any athlete if they chose to sign with another program. It will be this staff's biggest challenge to change perception about the Cajun program with local athletes.

Also, no one should be talking about replacing existing athletes on the roster by pulling scholarships to give to new athletes. No such thing has been done or is in the process of being done. Every athlete in the program will be given the opportunity to compete and must participate in preseason workouts, attend class, follow codes of conduct and meet progress standards towards their degree. Any athlete failing to meet those criteria would be at risk of losing their scholarship. This has nothing to do with any coaches integrity, but holding student athletes accountable. Let's not question this coaching staff's intergrity because there will be some attrition, they have a right to do what is best for this program within the compliance rules of the NCAA.

I loved what he did in 2008 but I remember a lot of people wanting him moved away from QB prior to that year, especially after the McNeese debacle in favor for Hundley. Leonard came in and played immediately at ASU and showed to be a very good dual threat QB. I think that had he come here, he would have seized the job immediately after Babb left and not given it up because he was more balanced at an earlier stage than Des was. That's my opinion. _
This is how Des and Leonard's senior seasons stacked up.

And had you read my post, you would have seen that I was speaking about Mike prior to his senior year. Most people thought he was a liability in the passing game and most had hoped he'd be moved to another position. That's not speculation and you can check past posts if you'd like. The bottom line is that Leonard had a better career. His senior year obviously did not go like he wanted as Des's was great until he hurt his knee. However, Leonard was a 4 year starter while Des had to grow into his role and get better in the passing game. Once he did, we did have a record setting type of offense. I'm just saying that Leonard was ready to play from day one
