This practice drives me NUTS--For instance will Tatford or Quave be offered at TE or OL----Offer them both at both positions--Hell let them have a shot at where they want---After evaluation the coaches decide---BUT THEY HAD THEIR CHANCE!!!! Are you being honest with the kid---Damn Right!!!!

Don't wanna call anyone out, but if the coaches are truly high on him and billups wants to be shown we want him and he'll walk-on, there's a couple of qbs to choose from that could be told thanks for your services, good luck in the future.....

Just to correct the record, as I understand it part of the reason we lost out on Leonard was that we dragged our feet and waited too long to offer (which was a pretty common complaint it seems during the Bustle tenure). The Ferroux deal was more complicated as he wanted to play QB and we would not guarantee that is where he would play and Buslte was offering him as an athlete. Plus his HS coach at Erath was pushing for him to go to BBU.

Understand and agree with you, but his numbers at D1 football and ASU suggest their evaluation wasn't good. He was a 4.6 athlete, he wouldn't have made a good safety in my opinion. His best position was QB, not safety or wr.

Actually, I believe this to be opposite. Mike was considered a project early on and was certainly a liability in the passing game prior to his senior year. He was a hell of an athlete and running QB and perfect for a zone read system but Mike was susceptible to big shots and injury which he was oft injured through his career. I loved what he did in 2008 but I remember a lot of people wanting him moved away from QB prior to that year, especially after the McNeese debacle in favor for Hundley. Leonard came in and played immediately at ASU and showed to be a very good dual threat QB. I think that had he come here, he would have seized the job immediately after Babb left and not given it up because he was more balanced at an earlier stage than Des was. That's my opinion.

I want Guy to be a Cajun, but not at the expense of another student athlete. _

Agreed. I certainly don't want that expense to be a senior who has busted his chops in this program for the past several years and done what was required to be a good teammate and contribute. That's not how you handle your student athletes.

It is my understanding that both Tatford and Quave are being offered at the OL position.

I would think we may want one of them at TE, since we have a Sr, a couple of guys who contributed a little this year and Pettis. Our other TE prospect was Griswold, who committed to ASU.

    You could be right though.

I personally think we need to get both kids in and let them find out if they can play TE or not...if not, move them to OL.

I still wish we were offering Quave at OL and Tatford at TE. Tatford is not going to want to sit around to get bigger and stronger to play OL and from what I understand, he wants to play TE anyway. I think this will minimize our chances of getting him. I think that Tatford would make a nice TE, kind of in the mold of an Erik Jones type who is a good blocker who can contribute nicely in the passing game.

I totally agree...Tatford is not going to play OL. He will go somewhere else, but could make a great blocking TE. I havent seen Quave play to be able to comment but I know Hudspeth is looking for the LG type TE.

and FWIW, Guy doesnt want that either. He has no problem walking on and waiting a year for a scholly. Use the one this year to put an important piece in place

Not all of our qb's are on scholarship. I guess I am being too harsh, but I have stated on this site before that this is just a game and was quickly corrected that when alot of ppl have invested alot of money that it's more than a game. With that outlook,I don't see how a player who is not on scholarship and will only be a scout team player is an asset. We are now having to turn down talented players b/c we don't want to cut a walk-on. If it's more than a game, then that means tough decisions will have to be made at some point.
