dang right and the kid told Hud point blank, you bring me in, in two years I will win the Sunbelt for you. Gotta love that

JB...you have to admit though, they are being as truthful as they can with him. Don't know why he wasn't offered the greyshirt route, but it seems they are trying to be as straight with as they can.

The only reason I can think of as to why we didn't offer him a gray shirt is (and it's not a very strong reason but the only I can think of) that they think that extra time with him lifting weights and getting bigger would attract bigger schools and that he would end up signing with them. So maybe the staff sees so much potential in him that they don't want to risk giving him up. I'm sure Guy is very loyal and wouldn't do this but it's the only possible explanation I can think of. any other reasons people have as to why we might not off him a gray shirt?
please dont put me on the spot like this.
Guys i want you to know what I know. This isnt a money thing, dad is more than willing to pay for his education. It isnt a fear thing, this kid believes in his heart he cant beat out any QB at any school. He just wants to know that he is gonna be given every shot to win the job. He has no problem running the scout team next year and earning a spot. At this point, a phone call from Stringer would do wonders, and I am gonna make sure Reed knows that. He just wants to know he is wanted
Ok JB, now you have to educate me. Wouldn't a preferred walk-on and a gray shirt be pretty much the same thing. You are still paying your own way and they don't have to use the year against his elgibility. I'm just asking because if it is just semantics, let's get out the gray!
I know the numbers don't add up or add up to more than enough or too much.
Still it seems to me (a know nothing) an offer to Billups would build a rock solid fence (or is that pipeline) to and around Oxford that would pay dividends for years to come.
I can think of so many variables both ways (why, why not, positive, negative) it isn't funny.
I'm glad I'm not the coach making these decisions. Tough tough.
I know this, Billups would love it here.

a gray shirt means that come January 1 the following year, he for sure has a scholly. Preferred walkon means he is on the 105 man roster, but doesnt for sure have a scholly. its like saying come to work here but we cant promise you will have a job next week
