UL offers Billups preferred spot

he was told they would put him on next year. But Rice can do it this year. Its gonna be Guys decision in the end. he told me he was about 85-90% on UL. I just dont get if your gonna put him on next year why not offer him a gray shirt so he is working towards a goal and you lock him down right now. They told him they want him and he is the number 1 HS QB on their board, but your gonna let him go to Rice this weekend when a gray shirt would have wrapped it up? I guess thats why they get paid the big dollars

That is what I want to see, I want him here as a gray shirt, he would have an extra semester in the weight program and to learn the system in the spring. Win, win for both parties.

I see no reason why we wouldn't want to grayshirt him. makes no since. And that attitude seems to be the perfect type of attitude to have when playing for coach Hud.

JB...you have to admit though, they are being as truthful as they can with him. Don't know why he wasn't offered the greyshirt route, but it seems they are trying to be as straight with as they can.

The only reason I can think of as to why we didn't offer him a gray shirt is (and it's not a very strong reason but the only I can think of) that they think that extra time with him lifting weights and getting bigger would attract bigger schools and that he would end up signing with them. So maybe the staff sees so much potential in him that they don't want to risk giving him up. I'm sure Guy is very loyal and wouldn't do this but it's the only possible explanation I can think of. any other reasons people have as to why we might not off him a gray shirt?

Guys i want you to know what I know. This isnt a money thing, dad is more than willing to pay for his education. It isnt a fear thing, this kid believes in his heart he cant beat out any QB at any school. He just wants to know that he is gonna be given every shot to win the job. He has no problem running the scout team next year and earning a spot. At this point, a phone call from Stringer would do wonders, and I am gonna make sure Reed knows that. He just wants to know he is wanted

I see at least one of our QBs transferring with Broadway coming in. Maybe Gauiter. I sure hope no one does but I'm thinking at least one of our QBs are thinking about it. So if Billups takes it, there's a good chance he will earn that scholarship this year.

I could be completely wrong, but I think gauiter leaving would be a mistake on his part (I understand your not suggesting he will in fact leave). If he had trouble learning our playbook in 3 years, how could he learn a complete new one in 2 years?
