"Parrot get the DA on the same page with our goals---Damn I can't believe the cost of the DA is $185 per year---Need front page ink!!!! thanks!!!"

Like your enthusiasm .. And your boldness in "damn-ing"on what the paper cost, and then asking them for help.. As they say, don't have if you don't ask.

I am sure you know though, Josh's j.o.b. Is not to be a "Cajun cheerleader", but rather cover the university's sports program's which most, if not all have certainly enjoyed and are pleased..

Maybe the RCAF, Cajunredzone.com or a single booster could ring the paper's advertising dept and get in the paper what you are asking/looking for.

Again, my admiration for your and others excitement with what seems to be afoot. You 4star you! (grins)

Thanks for the advice, Boom, but I can assure you that the DA has put together a plan for reunion coverage. Foote has been publicizing the reunion for a while now on the radio. You'll start seeing more and more on the reunion in the next few days in print and online for the DA.

As for advertising, Bil is right. I write stories; I don't do advertising. If somebody wants to run an ad in the newspaper, they need to pay for it.

I would consider $185 a year quite a bargain (.50 cents a day) for Cajun fans given that you get daily UL stories as well as blogs, pictures, videos, etc., on top of everything else. Doesn't make sense to give all of that away for free, otherwise I won't get paid.

  6. Default UL's oldest most often played basketball rivals

This may be old news to some of you and news to others. This is the 100th year since the start of UL Mens basketball.

    First year: 1911
    Oldest rival: Louisiana College

    Most played teams are:

    Louisiana Tech 128
    McNeese State 85
    Lamar 80
    Louisiana College 70
    Northwestern State 70
    New Orleans 68
    ULM 62
    Arkansas State 60
    Southeastern LA 56
    Southern Miss 54
    LSU 40

The records are off because between 1916 and 1930 UL
has the overall record but not the oppoent except for LSU.

Of known actual games, at one point in time (1937) LSU
was by far and away the most played opponent for UL.
At that point in time, when UL had only played LA Tech
*6 times, they had played LSU 36 times Louisiana College
    was second with *16 games.

*LA Tech and LC were no doubt much higher but the
    actual number is not verfied.

Did not realize Bo was the #2 all-time scorer in NCAA history only behind the Pistol.

USL (1960-1983) (1985-1998) Re: UL's oldest most often played basketball rivals

Good post Turb!! I've been going to games since the Shipley era @ Blackham. On your list, in MY opinion only, even though McNeese was our biggest "rival," The team that I ABSOLUTELY HATED the most was DEFINITELY Lamar under Billy Tubbs!! Seeing them come onto OUR court and circle it with a "No.1" finger up was arrogance to the Nth degree!
Also, the team that would break our hearts the most was definitely UNO. The year we won the Great Alaskan Shootout was a PRIME example. We were undefeated and climbing in the polls and they came into a packed Blackham and won. They always seemed to be the thorn in our side.

    Does anyone else have thoughts??

If the three point shot was in effect, where would "Bo" and Pete stand. I would love to know the stats on "Bo" and Pete if that was so..............
