  7. Default UL Basketball Set For Reunion Weekend

This weekend, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns celebrate 100 years since the start of basketball at the University. Current and former coaches, players and staff members from seven different decades will get together Friday and Saturday for the UL Men's Basketball Reunion.

Players, coaches, managers, trainers and other personnel from the 1940's to the 2000's will return to Lafayette to swap stories and share memories from past playing days, including the likes of Beryl Shipley, Jimmy Dykes, Bobby Champagne, Ted Lyles and many, many more. The oldest attendee, Dr. Sam Foreman, played for the Cajuns in 1942 and is 90 years old.

It will be a fun-filled weekend of activities starting with a social on Friday evening at the Alumni Center at 5 p.m. There will be food, drinks and plenty of reminiscing.

Saturday begins at 9 a.m. with a tour of the campus, including the Walk of Honor, historic Earl K. Long Gym, Blackham Coliseum and the Moncla Indoor Practice Facility. Head Coach Bob Marlin then personally invited the alumni to view the current Cajuns' gameday shooting practice at the Cajundome. The day will continue with a reception before the game and on-court recognition at half time of the La.-Monroe game.

Friday's social and Saturday's tour are only open to registered basketball alumni and members of the media.

Fans will have a chance to get up close and personal with the legends of UL basketball on Saturday at the Cajundome with a pre-game autograph session from 6-7 p.m. Complimentary autograph books will be provided.

Saturday's game versus the Warhawks is also "Take a Kid to the Game" day. Admission is free to young fans under 12 years old. Tip-off is slated for 7:05 p.m. CT. Fans may have a chance to witness history as senior point guard and Lafayette native, Randell Daigle, sits 17 points shy of becoming the 39th player in school history to score 1,000 points in his career.

Another special aspect of Saturday's halftime festivities will be the introduction of new head football coach Mark Hudspeth and his staff. Hudspeth is expected to address the Ragin' Cajuns fans in attendance.
