Good stuff . . . still reading.
Please tell me ESPN14.20 will have pod casts of Foote's show from this week. Please.
Good stuff, Jay.
Looks like the more things change, the more they stay the same--particularly as it relates to Monroe and Lake Charles.
Excellent article, and the links were priceless!! The article about the Marquette game was really funny, and the article about the '84-'85 NIT with mccheese's coach b#$ching about U(S)L being picked over the cowgirls was AWESOME, though I don't remember it. My favorite memory of UL basketball was making the trip wit the Band and cheerleaders to New York for the NIT Final Four!!

Heard you guys talking about the "Touch of Class" fliers yesterday on the show. Do you know if anyone has came across one?
Its the 2nd sheet one of the links in the article:

Didn't we beat Kentucky to win THEIR tournament? It might have been under Coach Paschal, not sure. Beating Georgetown to win the Great Alaska Shootout was awesome. I also remember beating Michigan State at the Sugar Bowl Classic. Saw all the games at Blackham during the Bo Lamar days. Those were the most fond memories, especially games vs. LA Tech. Remember beating Houston in Lafayette, both UL and UH had the same warmups. Drove to Ruston to see UL beat LA Tech when Bo scored 52 and left the game with about 5 minutes remaining and threw his wrist bands to the crowd. We used to stand in line an hour or two before each game to get seats in the bottom student section at Blackham and to watch them warm-up. With all of the All Americans and great players we had back then to build on, no telling where UL would be today had we not had the death penalty. Too many great memories to list.
The win over Kentucky was in the 1989-90 season under Marty Fletcher. In the semifinals, Todd Hill hit a shot at the buzzer to beat Cincinnati. Then the Cajuns won 116-113 in the finals over UK. Sydney Grider and Kevin Brooks had huge games. Grider severely sprained his ankle late in the game. Tyrone (Bucket) Jones came in for Grider and had several huge rebounds to help in the win.
I still cling to hopes that Marty Fletcher flies in on the red eye tonight (and tomorrow night) rips his shirt open at center court, exposing his "Ragin' Cajuns Forever" shirt.
