It was great to see Coach Lee. Whether you liked the job he did or not, he was - much like Rickey Bustle - a great guy. And he on several occasions acknowledged our student section last night, saying hello and goodbye to several of us who have been sitting there for years.

I was glad to see that the crowd applauded when they announced Coach Lee. He is a good man and did the best he could.

If I remember right I think that was a road game against Nicholls State. They thought the only way to win was to slow down our offense. Didn't work.

In our third appearance we beat Tennesse in OT and lost to Pitt in the finals. The third appearance came after the Graylin Warner bunch had left and the team was led by Cedric Hill. Even though we did not win the tournament, the win over Tennessee was sweet considering we lost close games to them in the NCAA and NIT earlier in the decade. Of course, in 2000 we lost another heartbreaking game to them in the NCAA's. Note that all six of those schools we played in the Sugar Bowl tournaments have teams in the major conferences. The fact that we competed so well against them shows how great a coach Bobby Paschal was. _
And we had good crowds supporting UL there. Great games all.

Five of those six schools we competed against in the Sugar Bowl Classic have been to Final Fours since that time. The only one who is not is Pittsburgh and they are now a perennial Big East contender. Michigan State, Kansas, and Florida have won national championships since then. In fact Kansas and Florida have both won two. Mich. State has won one but they are always a Final Four contender. To think not too long ago we competed very well against such schools. Let's bring those days back.

He was probably making sure that they still had a spot for him at the flip cup and beer pong table during tailgating this fall.

They forgot to invite the newbies. LOL!

One thing for sure, we finally have a class guy who can coach BACK in our head coaches' shoes who, like Paschal, is an accomplished coach AND gentlemen. Eat your hearts out, Fletcher and Evans.

Although Coach Paschal is thought of fondly by many, I see no reason to bash Coach Fletcher or Coach Evans. They both won a lot of games here. Spirit of last night is for all of us to pull together to return the program to prominence.

I had in depth dealings with all three, as well as most of their assistant coaches, and I stand VERY firmly by my comment.

As I read your reply, I am reminded that I failed to say "Class AND INTEGRITY - with Paschal probably having more of that mix than the other two combined.

I'll leave it to readers as to which one is perceived to have had lower class and which one lower integrity. All three, however, had more of the mix than the AD and Assistant AD on watch when Paschal left.

That said, I think the Marlin/Farmer team can be a special marriage.
