Thread: University of Louisiana Men's Basketball Reunion

  1. Default Re: Top UL basketball games

The Fire Marshall is so strict these days UL can't even use the traditional cannon after touchdowns. And that is outside.

If the Fire Marshall had been this strict in the 60's and 70's the big memory today would be how no one could get a ticket back then.

It was great honor to be a part of the reunion an remembered, not being a player or coach. Those who were there from the Winkler-lamar era know what i did and appreciated. Others players showed their respect for my loyality and assistance.

What a great class of of former players and coaches. I can't name everyone one, but the interesting conversations with Dean Church, Coach Hatfield and Charles English wiere some of the highlights not to say the remembering and swapping stories with Coach Cox, PT, Denny, Hank & Steve from the era. Can't forget the talks with Jay and meeting Parrot.

Will not get into the new Shipley documentary, but that is going to be the ultimate when wen finished, thak you for your efforts guys.

Lastly, to all my friends that I got a chance to meet and talk to, thank you: T-Joe, Liz landry, Ed Pratt, Ed Dugas, Dan hare, Coach (Blanco), Zap, David Walker, Maj. Robinson, Troy and of course, meeting and talking with Scott Farmer and one of my earliest friends from U(S)L, Gerald Landry.

Was a strong team to support and/or make UL into one of the better Universities today and one of the top in the future.

I totally agree with the thought that the players responded to the crowd.

Of course the crowd was responding to the players.

They fed off each others enthusiasm and actions, which is the way it should be.

    Default Have we EVER????

I know most of you guys know more about whats going on than I do. While I am a huge cajun fan I am relatively new to the program. What I want to know is...

Have we ever had a coach lead a procession of recruits through the cajundome?

Have we ever had a coach that addressed the crowd at a basketball game 6 months before football starts?

Have we ever had our coaching staff announced at a basketball game?

Has it ever felt like we were on the right path like it does now?

We stopped in at Deanos at 530 and wouldn't ya know it.. there was a wait and the restaurant was full of patrons wearing red (vermillion?) and white... what a great feeling to see pride for the university. Only one person there was wearing puke and gold..... er purple and gold.

I thought so... My only thought..... and its something really small... was to have someone there representing the RCAF and accepting donations and whatnot.

Another small problem I had was there was no one checking the D parking pass lot. It was full of non-parking pass vehicles. No worries next year I'll be in the C lot anyways.

That is a great piece, Foote! Coach Shipley, I am eternally grateful for everything you have done for this University. I am so sorry it took this long for you to be recognized for your accomplishments.....

Very, very good article indeed. As I am under 30, I'm just beginning to learn the storied history of the hoops program. I hope that the university really does continue to make efforts to reconnect our present and our future with the amazing past efforts of people like Coach Shipley.

They were left out because they were introduced in a separate category: Those who have played AND coached for the Cajuns. Sonny Dykes, Andy Russo and Brad Boyd were also introduced in that group. Those men were not introduced in their decade either.
