That's why I don't buy the idea that signing local players will make any measurable difference in attendance. This isn't high school.

Jennings is still more McNeese country than UL country. The newspaper gets most of there feeds from the LCAP and the nightly news is covered more so by Lake Charles. Most of the JHS staff are alumni of McNeese including HC Rusty Phelps who was also a GA coach there. Also 2 coaches also played for McNeese. The JHS staff as not yet met with Coach Hud, I hope he makes a trip there soon and I think the perception about UL will be a lot different.

This is recruiting man. This staff has a responsibility to fill the depth chart and put this team in the best position to win. You can't hold your program hostage while waiting on kids to visit and give you an indication as to what they plan to do. Hud would love to have both but if he doesn't get them, especially Hollier, he has major holes to fill and may lose out on other prospects while waiting. He can't afford to wait as signing day is a little over 3 weeks away.

if it's who i think it is, he doesn't speak "to" us as much as he speaks "down" to us. i have a couple of good warner wolfe quotes for him.

not trying to create a bustle thread, but do you follow this program enough to have an idea of the increase in numbers of local players on our teams in the recent past over previous years? how about the percentage of players from inside our state? both numbers have increased over the last several years. let's not go back down the road of "we have to get more local players." this coach will try to get the players he feels will help our program. some locals will be excited to be in on the ground floor of something that has the potential to become huge. other locals hear the siren song of the bcs and will go there.

This topic comes up every so often. If you want to win games, you sign the best players regardless of where they're from.

No one local player is going to make a huge impact on attendance. The people that say they won't show up unless you recruit a bunch of local players will find another excuse to stay home. That's not the mentality you want for a winning college program.

Recruit the best players you can find. If it's between multiple players and all things are equal, location could be a tiebreaker. But it shouldn't be the main factor.

now, this is rather laughable. don't get carried away with your argument. what if hollier came here, and eugene played down the road? would acadiana split up into 2 groups? see what i mean? be careful not to lose your cred.

To everyone on this board: cajuntbray actually asked if we had signed ladarius green yet! Is there any further reason to commit anymore time or effort in trying to convince him of any logic whatsoever? Cajuntbray, we are all now dumber for having to read your posts! You should wear a diaper on your face to catch the crap coming out of your head!

I went back and read a couple of your posts. This one caught my eye. A word to you:

Tell your Acadiana High friends to become fans of their local University...as the rest of us are...and not just of their kids who may play here from time to time.

My son tried to walk on with Coach Robe, but didn't make it. Should I have given up my season tickets and stop my RCAF contributions because of it? According to you, the answer might have been YES.
