I'm sure that Coach Hud and his crew have a plan in place for recruiting and I am simply a fan, but it is a little strange to me that Billups hasn't been offered yet. Isn't he the 5A state QB. I mean, to me that's pretty darn good by itself. I imagine he didnt' have just one good game. But, like I said, I'm sure they have a plan. Just sayin' ...

_ Billups will be visiting this weekend and I sure hope he gets an offer!! He is a great kid and a wonderful QB yes he has MUCH more arm strength than he shows on film. He was asked to make certain throws and that was that. He never had an out rout picked off if that tells you anything.
Also Tom Lemming from Maxpreps didnt name him the national sleeper recruit of the year for nothing!!
He has standing preferred walk on offers from Fla State, Ms. State. USM, Illinois. He has an offer from Delta state and another from Coach Hal Mumme at McMurray in Texas. He is going on an official Visit to Rice in two weeks. He was hands down the best QB at the camp at LSU this summer, and the coaches loved him, but they chose to sign a 6 5" athelete, go figure!! This kid is a winner and he is very smart, he can make the throws and he will within a year be competing for playing time. _

I think that you will see a ton of Cajun fans who want Billups to get the offer and commit to the Cajuns. He reminds a lot of people here of Jake Delhomme. I think he could play here and excel after a few years in the program.

Who knows what will happen, but I do know this, the kid can play.

This is just speculation on my part, but part of their plan (or a problem for Billups) is that we already have several QBs and are still trying to sign Griswold. We may not have another QB slot to give.

I am not a coach and cant say what they are looking at or want. But i have seen both of these kids play and participate in person several times. Griswold is an athlete, Guy is a Quarterback. Depends on what you want.

The knock on him is his size. There are lots of super players in high school every year that either get no attention or very little. Wasn't it Blake Matherne who was the state player of the year a few years ago at Belle Chasse? I'm not sure if he went anywhere but if he did, it was likely not even to an FBS school. Kid was a player but was too small for most people to put at QB in college. You add in the factor that there's other good potential prospects at the QB position outside of Billups and now you have to weigh strengths and weaknesses of each against one another. Since none of them have obviously played a collegiate game, you have to make the best informed decision.

Who knew 6' 2" would be considered questionable size. He will play somewhere, he loves the coaches at ULL, but Rice is on him pretty hard, as is Delta State. I know Delta state is D2 but still a great program and an oppertunity to play. The family is originally from Hammond and would love to be Rajun Cajun fans, if it works out that way. We shall wait and see.

You know, T, this staff is surely capable of deciding which HS QB is best for this program at this time, but one thing Billups may have going for him is that he seems to want to be a Cajun. That may make the difference for him. I know Griswold is a 2 star recruit and Billups is NR...but, then again, that Delhomme kid wasn't rated either!!
