_ There seems to be a lot of exuberance around here about our recruiting but Scout currently rates our recruiting class at #109 of 120. ULM comes in at #91, while Tulane and La Tech are tied at #82. Is there something that we see that the people at Scout are missing? _

IDK a 4 star QB transfer...2 MS players that were highly underrated due to little HS experience but have huge upside...and I guess general lack of good scouting done on non-BCS players. Hell, Micah Eugene is still a 0 star player on Scout. Also, Juco guys are usually given more stars and some of those other schools have plenty.

This class will end up as good as any non-AQ in state teams.

It has been mentioned before that players will be reevaluated at the end of January. Look for a change. BTW, what have those higher ratings gotten ulm and Tech the last few years? NADA...

I don't know if I'd put too much stock in it. They have been ranking them above us for several years now. Tech's record is not dramatically different form ours over that period (some years they are slightly better than us other years we are slightly better than them) and we've owned moanroe's asses over that same period. In fact those superior rankings for moanroe still haven't gotten them a winning season EVER in D1A.

What am I basing what on? Broadway wont be counted to our rating, but a 4 star player would skyrocket us. Players will be re-evaluated as Z said, see Micah Eugene, who is coming in for a visit as a 0 star player, but will no doubt be bumped all the way to 3 stars bc he's committed to LSU. We have 2 and keying on another 1 or 2 in the Miss. Top 40.

If you cant see that this class has quite a bit more talent than any previous class in the "Star" era, than you just arent paying enough attention.

I reall don't put much emphasis on Scout.com. Ole Miss has had high ranking classes but always lays an egg!! This guy Steve Robertson at scout pushes his pet players, he pretty much ranks them on the combine at the begenning of the year and gives them no credit for what they do during the year. I honestly believe he killed the billups kids recruiting in Mississippi for some reason,(just my opinion). You can have the Num 1 recruiting class in the nation but if you dont have a good coaching staff and a positive environment to push them,get them to gel and get 110% out of them then at the end of the year all you have is a bad record and a great recruiting class! Southern Miss is a great example of winning with average classes, although the current coaching staff is not real desirable.

Yes, its called being a fan. Everyone is pumped about their prospects as they should be but there are always flaws.

no flaws in my system, dont rank em until after their sophomore year in college. lol

Thats why i dont think kids should receive a ranking until after their Senior years. Most 4 and 5 stars i deal with area prima donnas that have been told how great they are

That is what it appears to be these days. I understand the star issue when talking and ranking the biggest players in the country. Those guys are under the miscroscope for at least 2 years usually and everybody keeps up with their progression so I think the accuracy of those rankings are typically valid. However, the kids that we tend to get are a lot more subjective and the ones that are BCS talented have a story of some kind as to why they are as underrated as they are. That is where some of my hesitation comes in to being so sure that this class will be the best class we've had here...Only because its maybe halfway filled. Many of the bigger names we focus on may or may not end up here in the end.

We also can't deny that for all of these prospects at QB and RB that we are excited about, we have glaring needs to fill at CB and DL. We will be very thin this year if we do not commit at least 2-3 CB's this year and I only know of a couple that have visits set. Abraham is one and he's now being talked about at WR where we have a lot of returning depth.

No doubt Broadway is a great addition, but he's not part of this signing class. Eugene would be a great addition to this class, if we get him. Maybe with him, we'd break into the top 100. I'll start getting excited when we break into the top 75 (next year?). I'll be ecstatic if we ever break into the top 50. And a top 25 class? I can't see it ever happening.
