I did not realize he was getting preferred walk-on offers from these type of schools. If the UL staff is looking to sign a QB in this class I have no problem with us taking Billups if he is high on their boards. I have never seen the kid play so I am only going on that he has not D1 offers, looks small in stature, and does he fit Huds system of an athletic QB?

From what I've seen on these clips, think, "Between the ears." Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

Thanks for the video. Yes I was impressed with Billups. My question is how did this team not win a state championship?

What I found watching the video on Billups is that he is very accurate, has control of the offense, shows pose, and often puts the ball where the WR can catch it and the DB has no chance.

On the down size again he is not very big but I understand neither is Drew Brees. He is not very fast but neither is Drew Brees. But the biggest negative is that I don't think he has real good arm strengh and Drew Brees does. A couple of times when he aired it out the ball traveled about 45-47 yards. I do know that in a spread offense the routes are often quick and the ball is not thrown down field much but it is nice to have that option if a WR was to break lose and to keep the defense honest. Also sometimes you have to rifle the ball in tight places that close much quicker in D1 football compared to HS.

Overall I must say he may be worthy of a scholarship offer, I am not sure who else the UL staff is considering. He may be far and away the best option.

Kitchen is very much interested even before the hire. Idk if this staff is on him. Heard he may have some issues with grades but I'm not 100%. possibly looking for a second option if the big ones fall through, but I can guarantee he was interested

After Sean White lost interest with the coaching change, Stephen Hughes was our highest ranked QB on the board by the previous staff. I say that because I did not speak to them but he was the only other QB it showed that we offered but he visited this past season and we had been recruiting him hard for about a year now. You can always add things to an offense to highlight the personnel there but you can't replace QB intelligence or someone who knows how to run an offense. He can do just fine with lack of size or arm strength initally as he would have time to develop and strengthen in this program. He is and will not be asked to produce immediately so he would likely have a couple of years to grow. A smart, heady QB who knows how to lead a team and an offense can never be taken for granted.

They didnt win state for one reason----West Point HS. They are a football factory

Guy runs a 4.80 forty, no thats not world class speed, but its good for a qb. And he can throw it 60 to 65 yards if he guns it, but the offense wasnt made for him to be a gunslinger, its was a rhythm and timing offense. You can sum this kid up very easy, 33tds and 6ints

He is 6ft 1 but only 175. needs to gain weight. But the kid just wins. And on the plus side, he is a 4.0 student and made a 28 on his act without a calculator.

We were pretty successful with a skinny kid coming out of Teurlings named Jake Delhomme back in the 90's.

I watched the footage of Billups when you first posted it. I can see where you compare him to Brees in his, what I refer to as, "gracefullness" in the pocket and his throwing accuracy. He appears to run well... not a barn burner... but good wheels. The concern for me is his throwing motion. He seems to throw right off his shoulder (low trajectory). That makes for accuracy but it limits power. I would be surprised to see him launch a ball over 50 yards with that motion. Regardless, anyone that can throw as nice a pass as Guy does and toss 33 TDs with only 6 INTs, is a very good passer. His receivers looked really good... and you know that can make a huge difference... but again... it takes an accurate passer with good pocket presence to get the ball to the right spot. His weight/height sounds a lot like Jake Delhomme when he started UL. Jake didn't rifle the ball when at UL. He really had a great feel for the pocket workspace and timing, and regardless of not having a hot ball, he could toss to a spot only his receiver was capable of touching.

Deshaun was in the all star game and said that Guy throws a catchable ball. The QBS there had rifle but no touch. Heck i would rather have a QB that throws it where my WR can catch it and the DB cant. lol The receiver in the video number 6 Stan Ivy, i am gonna send him your way too
