It would be self promoting and serve no real purpose to point out and discuss specific players. You have probably watched the same games and film that I have watched. You seem to be an engaged fan that feels you have a valid insight into the overall dynamics of the team; so you either agree or disagree with me.
I hope Masson isn't the choice, we've been trying out that one and it isn't working. I'd put Broadway, Gauthier, McGuire over him.
Don't be surprised to see Masson under center next season. In Bustle's old system, I really felt that a mobile QB was best suited for it, especially with the bad O-line play, but in the system that I think we'll see under Hud, Masson may be the best equiped to run it with his solid arm and ability to get the ball down field accurately, his big drawback will be if he can get the ball out quickly, which was a problem he had this year, but I also think the system had a part to play in that as well as it seemed that he was running a read and react style offense where as I think we'l be more likely to be throwing to a spot on the field quickly with the new offense.
People forget Masson has good mobility. He had a 60 yard bomb against ASU this year where he basically outran the entire defense on a gimpy knee. He can move. There's a difference between having a mobile QB who can escape pressure and gain yards when necessary and having a QB who's running ability is made a primary weapon of the offense. He is not the type you want running 15 times a game but then again, we haven't had a lot of success keeping guys healthy when running that much anyhow. Also, running some more pro sets would hopefully allow us to utilize the playaction and rollouts a bit more which I think fit his skill set well along with Gautier.
