SAN ANTONIO- The Lady Cajuns tennis squad had its best showing of the fall as they not only defeated the University of Texas-San Antonio in their own tournament, but went on to sweep both opponents in Saturday’s play.

The Lady Cajuns team did not lose a single game on Saturday, going 6-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles.

Celine VanWeydeyeld and Chanell Meijer led the Lady Cajuns, winning all three of their singles matches. Meijer was also on a winning doubles team against Tyler Community College, 8-3, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christie, 9-7.

“The girls played really unbelievably,” women’s tennis coach Lisa Jackson said. “We were in a dog fight against Houston and I am really proud of the way they fought.

“Houston is a WAC team and we played them to a 3-3 draw,” Jackson said. “This is really important for us.”
