Case Keenum was Houston's starting quarterback who was injured early in the season and is seeking a sixth year. The guy is one fo the best QB's in the country. Houston was expecting a breakout year and injuries sent them into a spiral much like the Cajuns.

Not sure what has led to Broadway's decision but I would suspect the rough year and the idea that Keenum could be coming back played a factor.

It may not be Keenum coming back as much as it would be Piland, who took over permanently for Keenum this year after Broadway got some limited action, being a freshman and seemingly in place to have that spot for the upcoming years.

Out of curiosity, anyone know why Piland was put in the last 8 games over Broadway?

Based on history, it's unlikely that the NCAA grants Keenum a sixth year since he received a redshirt as a freshman for non-injury issues. (Kolb was a senior QB there in 2006. No reason to burn Keenum's first year.) Not that the NCAA ever shows much consistency in its rulings.

Piland played in a spread similar to what Houston runs at Southlake Carroll. That likely played a role in the coaches going with him in the final eight games. He had a solid year as a true freshman when given a chance.

From what I gathered in speaking with Broadway, he didn't feel like he got a fair shake from the coaches there. With he and Piland having the same amount of eligibilty left, his odds didn't look good to get another shot in Houston.

I have no clue cause that kid wasnt mobile at all. When MSU played em, we got a gift by Broadway not playing and beat em pretty good.

Johnboy, looks like you were dead on with your assessment ... all you have to do is let us know when you are coming in and we'll take care of the rest!

    Welcome to the CAJUNS!

Thank you for the heads up Josh. I'll take a 4-star castoff anyday, especially considering he performed well when asked to. Also, seems like a kid of good character.
