Sometimes it's a he-said, he-said situation when getting the truth on such issues.

Understood JP, we can only talk about what is given on the record. With all the work you have done on Huds background and things you have discussed, you can only report what was talked about on the record and not other things that were off the record. I hope others will understand that and while you or I may have more information on a certain subjects, we cannot break our word.

And the same holds true for anyone with some kind of relationship with either staff.

No, its not ridiculous at all. But understand, Coach Jenkins left here to get himself in a better position to get a head coaching position. He has done that successfully at Bethune-Cookman, with a winning season and the playoffs. I don't see Coach Jenkins working so hard for that opportunity and then given up running his own program to come back to UL for the OC position. IMO

Please give Coach Hudspeth the benefit of the doubt. He will prevail, if not this season, the following seasons. We have waited a long freaking time to get a quality coach and we have it now. Lets give him the full support and not expect miracles to happen overnight. It will come with due time. Go Cajuns......

Time will tell, and I think it will prove you right.

However, I am prefer to give him my full support and expect miracles! I get the feeling that he will be more dissappointed than any us if he does not produce some.

I asked him and he said that it wasn't really about having Kenny's OC talents at UL. He wanted to give his friend Kenny the opportunity to escape Troy before we kicked their ass into oblivion. He also told me that he Edenfield was regressing in his offensive coaching skills and he thought it would be a great opportunity for the HudMaster to teach him some new tricks.

When we get an OC... I'm pretty sure he'll be an excellent coach ready and willing to work his ass off for Mark Hudspeth.

But of course, this forum will make it out to be an all night teenage girl slumber party harmone induced "OMG, OMG" episode... until that happens.

I am all for an occaisional hormone induced OMG, and I think it's great to see people so excited. Also, I understand your point.

I hope Coach Hudspeth gives someone like Chris Snyder the chance. It takes a little vision to see what a guy like Snyder is capable of, that sort of vision will enable Coach Hudspeth to form a staff that will produce amazing results.

I'm good with the excitement factor. I guess I've been around long enough to temper the false ups and downs. I believe in sustaining the energy that Hudspeth is bringing to our program. That energy serves a purpose. I just did not like the way the original coaching search was played out on this forum (not the reality of the coaching search... the immature reactions to it by members of this forum). And now, the OC spot is getting that treatment.

To be honest, I'm not sure that Hudspeth might not be better off going through this hiring process just the way it's playing out. As much as it may have been easier and more predictable to bring people he knows real well, it may very well serve him to have a person with admirable offensive knowledge, but a slightly different approach.

One thing that I immediately see as a benefit. Hudspeth has somewhat been working a small geographical area for personal influence and gain. He and Edenfield's maps look a heck of a lot the same. I see this as an opportunity for Hudspeth to broaden his collection of maps and realm of influence.

The way the coaching search played out on this forum
Is the way coaching searches play out on every forum. Fan forums by definition are not rational.

It is ok to get up and down. That is part of being a fan. While I wish I could be a little more even keeled regarding the Saints. I am not. I use sports as a way to let my excitement/despair run rampant. I love our hire, and think we are on the right track. But I think Coach Hudspeth probably learned a lesson about playing things close to the vest until they are 100%.

I do have a bad habit of believing in my mind's eye that I'm dealing with grown men on here. I realize even among many of the so-called men are a bunch of man-girls. It really isn't fair of me to knock on the door of the slumber party and try to get them to stop the pillow fight. Man-girls will be man-girls! And you are right, they dominate the majority of other fan forums as well.

I'm actually ok with Hudspeth's approach to out loud promotion of his coaching staff selections (and recruits). How fans react about the ups and downs is the man-girl "problem"... and that is the only reason I wish we were kept in the quiet. Hudspeth is going to be very forceful and out loud in working people into joining and supporting his system (fans, coaches, community, recruits, players, administrators, media... you name it). And he isn't going to keep anything close to his vest. Are man-girls going to have food for drama under Hudspeth? You better know it.

If I get on here to read updates and do a little social engineering... and I keep reading grown men's romance noveling... I'm definitely going to do a "panty check"... pass out free passes to the real girls... and continue to kick the man-girls in their small fan forum sacks.

Just to get a feel for the holiday season, and people on my list. What does a man-girl romance novel read like?
