I guess the part that is a bit of a disappointment to me, is when Coach Hud had an offense in mind, he obviously thought highly of Campbell and Edenfield, even though we really knew very little about these guys before. I'm confident Coach Hud will find someone to run his style offense and we will be excited about it when it happens. The waiting part is a killer.

    I agree.

It sure looks like Edenfield (Hud's friend?) played us and had no intention to move, because he eats at his Mother-in-laws every Sunday.

Cmon guys let's not be bitter (although I am!).

It's always a big risk to leave your current job where you're family is happy, AND where you're highly successful.

This is business, and Edenfield made his choice.

I can't blame him, but I can look forward to shutting down his offense next year!

I see this as coach Hudspeth loyalty.

He was able to get several of his friends significant raises.

I hope he has plan B in place for staying with the small time. If he is as good as he thinks, he will get more offers but his family will hold him down once again. When Troy runs out of money, who will pay what Blake has promised. They set a precedent that will follow/haunt them as other coaches on their staff hold them hostage under similar curcumstances.

I am very disappointed in Edenfield's decision. I think part of that is we went from getting both Campbell and Edenfield to getting neither. I think the fact that it seemed a "sure" thing makes it even more surprising. However, I think we have to look at it objectively. One candidate is a Head Coach, yes it is at a CC, but it would still go from being THE guy to being an asst. That's a tough move unless we are talking about moving to a high profile program. The other guy would have been making a completely lateral move within conference, which is almost unheard of. And he has had success at that place and does have some roots there. Again, tough move. I think we can be optimistic, but Hud was shooting high with these choices. I'm still excited because Hud is making the decisions. I was excited when he was hired because of who he is and what he brings to the program, not because of possible assts, that was just the cherry on top. Non of that has changed, Hud is still leading our program, which makes me excited!!

I don't think that's accurate. The only precedent that's been set is that Troy is willing to pony up to keep someone they value. I think losing Edenfield to UL would have set a much worse precedent. Despite the fact that UL has higher upside, there is zero argument that Troy is and has been a more successful football school.

I don't know if I'd move my family for a "lateral move with upside" unless I really hated where I lived.

If Troy has another great offensive year next year, Edenfield will be headed to the BCS as an OC, or possibly get a shot at a lower level HC job.

This is just another reason to hate Troy. I know I am probably being a little harsh but it is Troy.

I'm REALLY looking forward to that after reading the trash talk on the Troy board:

I can handle losing him to Okie St., but not to La La.

i agree if we lost him to Okie St. I could handle it because I respect their program. I would love to see ULL not get him for 2 reasons. I think they are a joke and I cant stand ULL, never have.

Those gumps over there sure are an arrogant bunch. Reading that board is about as bad as reading the tigerpoop board.

Based on the newspaper article, you know who wears the pants in the Edenfield household. Evidently the wife is making the decisions, being from Troy. I can't wait until we play them next year.

Thanks. Frustrating to be a Cajun fan. Good things always seem to be on the horizon, but the horizon never gets here. Mostly in football. Now 5 bad years of basketball.

Just upset, b/c it looked to be a dynamite staff. Now unfortunately, we all know our offensive coordinator will be at best a 3 rd choice

    More like his second choice.

Campbell and Edenfield were 1A and 1B.

I trust Hud, and he probably already has someone in mind.
