Marlin never got hired, because he is not a sexy hire. College hoops is intent on churning the same names over and over again.

Sort of reminds me of the saying... "I'd never join a club that would have ME as a member"

So the fact that he is not at lsua&m@br or Ohio State means he does not meet your standards?

Look at what Maryland just did. Their coach, an alumnus of the school, went 8-4 and a bowl game (following a losing season) and was named ACC Coach of the Year AND was FIRED. The AD apparently wanted a higher level program and a more sexy hire. Maryland paid him $2M to buy out of the last year of his contract. Looks like Mike Leach is the guy they are targeting. Some schools want a sexy hire who they think can lead them to the promised land. We'll see if Maryland can beat an 8 win season and get an Orange Bowl under Leach, if that's who they hire.

Sam Houston is NOT a place to hang ones hat forever. A hire form a biggtime program would not be in our best interests. We want someone who knows whats its like to starve AND win.

BayouTeche posted an opposing reply to his own post. Does it surprise you that he'd boast his principles in one thread and cremate them in another?

This is the takeaway for me... where he applied his spin positively was on the WAC and where he applied his spin negatively was on our new coaching hires. This cat is not a shade of red familiar to me.

I'll shoot the soldier of an enemy. But, he who masquerades among us but is untrue... must be hung by the neck until he is dead. (in a forum kind of way)

Turbine, prepare the gallows. His only way out is a plea of insanity of which there is ample evidence in support. In that case, I want him to be banished to the ULToday site as CajunFun's fact checker.

It also means that Bayou Teche should be spit out, or disemboweled at the very least.

I do not like wolves in sheep's clothing and I vote that the ban hammer be used righteously in this instance.

    Daniel Day Lewis for OC?

How 'bout Mark Hudspeth for O.C.?

Why not find some young whoopersnapper(late 20's) of an assisstant somewhere looking to learn from Hudspeth and take over one day.

All the while, Hudspeth calls the shots until the young whoopersnapper can fly solo.

If Coach Hud can't entice someone he trusts to come to UL to run this offense, then wouldn't it be prudent to make someone else into that person he can trust implicitly?

On a monumental note, we will agree....lol. However, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a hire for passing game coordinator or something for a young guy to possibly wait for that opportunity for the OC position and let Hud call the shots. It's tough as I'm sure he would like to be able to oversee the day to day operations of the team, especially in his first year but it seems that it would be a logical assumption.

Major Applewhite is going nowhere and bigger jobs are awaiting him soon. I do not know of the other guys but Applewhite will not be an option.
