Around 1:00 Monday morning, officials with the Lafayette Fire Department responded to a call of a house fire in the 400 block of Greig Street. The fire forced the partial shut down of The Evangeline Thruway northbound from East Simcoe Street to Mud Avenue. Officials with the Lafayette Fire Department say that the home is abandoned and that no one was inside of the boarded up residence which is owned by the Department of Transportation and Development. The cause of the fire is believed to have started outside of the residence, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
