Why is that bad news? You don't see LSU fans getting upset because Nick Saban comes up for vacancies like the chicago bears. Why would you want a coach that no other teams wants?
It's bad news because that is where he went to schoolOriginally posted by cajun tom
Why is that bad news? You don't see LSU fans getting upset because Nick Saban comes up for vacancies like the chicago bears. Why would you want a coach that no other teams wants?if there is a chance he would go anywhere I would say this would be it, his school and home state? not that hard of a choice. Luckily this is probably nothing more than a rumor since Tommy Bowden is the coach there. However, if Bustle were to leave right now it would be bad news for our program, in case you have not noticed the work is not finished.
After signing a 5-year contract, and a 2-year extension to his contract, he could at least wait till his contract is up for him to sign with another team.
If he does sign with Clemson at the end of this season. It showed that he was never commited to making this program a winning program. It showed he never gave a rata-- about this program to began with.
He could at least stay till he finished, what he promised.
For whatever it's worth, this isn't the first time his name has been mentioned for other jobs. Prior to the season he addressed the issue with the team in order to quash a particular rumor. In August, a person who works for the South Carolina football program told my wife that his name has been mentioned there also.

If Ricky Bustle doesnt care about our program enough just to leave this program in the Crpper, and go to Clemson I say let him go. I do not look at this University as a stepping stone for any other University. If he does not want to be here let him go. let him go. I would rather someone that wants to be here then someone who is here just to get a salary raise, and go to another University.
If Ricky Bustle leaves after he accepted a 2-year extension of his contract, Then I lost all respect that I have for Ricky Bustle.
I see that you, like me, do not know what to say to that comment :confused:Originally posted by snote

I cleared it up for yall.
Unfortunately, unlike lsuambr, we DO have to worry about reports like this because we don't have unlimited resources to keep coaches like THEY do!! As far as Clemson goes, Tommy Bowden could be gone after this season, especially if they don't win any more games(which could happen!). If Clemson wants to buy out Coach Bustle's contract, they could probably do it, and there would be little or nothing we could do about it.

There are no "destination" jobs in college football - it's the nature of the beast. Any program with a good coach has to deal with it. The exceptions are few and far between and no program is immune. As fans, we just have to hope that when we get a good coach that he's happy where he is - otherwise there's always a better job (a bigger school, the NFL) waiting to hire away a hot coach. I just heard Herbstreit on the radio yesterday talking about Saban to the Dolphins. The coaches on my team field offers on a regular basis. We're left to hope that we get the most out of them while they're here and then make a good hire once they move on.
