CALGARY - Alex Archila, president of Chevron Canada Resources, was honored today by the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Award Conference (HENAAC) as Hispanic Engineer of the Year for 2004.

The prestigious award honors Archila's professional and personal achievements and his demonstrated support of diversity and community involvement.

"I am honored to have received this recognition from HENAAC," said Archila. The support I have received from ChevronTexaco throughout my entire career is in a large measure responsible for my winning the award."

Archila received a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Louisiana under a Texaco Scholarship. He joined Texaco after graduation in 1984, as a drilling engineer in the jungles of Guatemala, his country of origin. He obtained a MBA from the Universidad de La Sabana in Bogota, Colombia. He has worked in assignments of increasing responsibility for ChevronTexaco in Africa, the U.S., South America, Europe and Canada. He assumed his current position in November 2002.
