Thread: Verbal Commitment list for 2005

So far i think we have put together a really athletic class. I am looking forward to hopefully seeing some nice linemen on that list soon. I have seen a little film on ulm and i think he might be a steal for us. Also most of the other schools that had been recruiting Hundley from STM have backed away and he would be a really big pick up for us. He is rated as a 3 star recruit on rivals and he could be a real sleeper.

It is difficult to say since I have only seen one (Lennox) of the kids play. Based on what has been written and said about them, I agree with Clutch, in that so far it is a very athletic class. Also, it appears to be a class with a lot of speed. I am a little concerned with the lack of size some of the players have but I would think it is easier to add weight to a player than speed What I do like about what our staff is doing (has done) is they look for quality kids and by that I mean ones that will make the grades and stay with the program. We now seem to be at the point where we are trying to add quality depth and players to develop. If any of them come in and win a starting job then that is just icing on the cake but we do not NEED them to do so.
As for the open positions left, I do hope we can add some quality linemen on both sides of the ball. Of course every other school hopes they can do the same.

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . .

I think that if we get a few more players for the linemen position on both sides of the ball we'll have a good recruiting class.

Looks like we're up to 22 now. There are only 4 spots left. Who will they be? Who will they be?

Does anyone know how this class ranks so far? Could it be the highest ranking class ever at UL????

    Default I Have a Question....

In the post, "College Cattle Call", it talks about Humble QB Pettiford.

The letters from marquee universities stopped coming. And with most schools having filled a need at quarterback, Pettiford looked to UH. Then the Cougars cooled. Pettiford — considered by recruiters an all-around athlete, not a quarterback — is expected to sign with a junior college or Louisiana-Lafayette today.
Yet, I don't see his name listed as a commit. Am I missing something?

Could it be that for some, time runs out on committing?

I wonder (and I don't know) how many pure athletes you recruit, since they will almost certainly need training from scratch. Perhaps there is no limit.

If I recall Bustle has always kept a scholarship in hand in case of late breaking events.

Great news. Was just going to ask if anyone was listening. Who is the late commit? Also, what is the deal on Forreaux (sp?) and the kid who was thinking about Wisconsin (Smith?)

Derrick Fourroux has signed with McNeese

Fourroux probably made the right move as the QB spot at UL is loaded with talented, young players. I wish him well as I know he's a good kid.
