Complete list of 2005 verbal commitments LOUISIANA La. — Louisiana’s football staff is off and running with its 2005 recruiting class.
Ragin’ Cajun head coach Rickey Bustle got his first verbal commitment for this February’s recruiting class Tuesday when free safety Desmond Jackson of Galena Park High in Houston gave a verbal nod to the Cajun program.
Jackson (6-1, 195, 4.5 40) was in attendance at UL Lafayette’s season-opening victory over Northwestern State Saturday at Cajun Field, and called Bustle with his commitment one day after the Labor Day holiday.
“It felt like a comfortable place to be,” said Jackson, a three-year letterman for the Galena Park squad of coach Mike Coker. “I wanted to commit early just in case I got hurt during the year and I’d have somewhere to go, but I felt really at home.”
Jackson had 70 tackles and three forced fumbles in his junior season in helping Galena Park to a 7-3 record, its best mark in 25 years. The squad was one win short of qualifying for the state playoffs out of District 19-4A.
