St. Charles, MO- The University of Louisiana’s golf team is tied for fifth after the first round of the Missouri Bluffs Challenge hosted by the University of Missouri.
Senior Steven Pena led all Ragin’ Cajun golfers with a round of 69 (-3) and is tied for third place after the first day. Junior Spence Girouard finished the first day in a tie for 23rd with a round of 73 (+2) in his first tournament of the year. Junior Peter Badawy who has been the most consistent golfer for the Cajuns this season posted a round of 74 (+3) to put himself in a tie for 32nd.
Freshmen Michael Smith had a decent day finishing in a tie for 42nd with a 4 under 75. Junior Glyn Bateman rounded out the field for UL Lafayette finishing in a tie for 62nd with an 8-over 79.
Day two could be good to the Cajuns if they can continue to strike the ball well and get some consistent play out of everyone on the team.
