Thread: Steers' Late Three-Pointer Downs Cajuns

  1. Default Steers' Late Three-Pointer Downs Cajuns

In a closely contested game which saw 18 lead changes and 17 ties, a three-pointer with three seconds left allowed Texas College to claim a 77-74 decision over Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team on Sunday at the Cajundome.

You know it's getting bad when the first media to publish the loss is the BOSTON GLOBE

I don't care who the coach is, this has certainly been an embarrassing start

C'mon Bob. The SBC isn't exactly a major BB conference, but you can't be losing to NAIA schools and expect to compete for a title.

1st year man. By year 3 we will be winning are coming damn close to conference champinships every year. Bob Marlin can coach and has good orginization skills. This year is like a wash unless we put together 4 good games in CONF Tourney...

  7. Default NAIA Steers knock off UL, 77-74

Things are beginning to get ugly in the first season under new UL head basketball coach Bob Marlin.

Default Should we throw Marlin back?

I've said many times I'm not a basketball person. I must have a strong connection to a team to get into it. I can't even watch the Hornets. So Cajun basketball is all I care about. I realize Marlin is working with the former coaches picks but come on. Texas College? Are they some power I've never heard of before? I'm willing to give Marlin 3 years to see a great improvement after that I will be calling for his head. I hope we didn't sign this guy to one of those Ragin Cajun decade contracts.

Has Lafayette been sucked into some vortex in another dimension where it is impossible to have a winning program? Oh well at least the Saints are rolling! That gives me hope that we will one day we will turn it around in both football and basketball. We've got to hurry up before we grow too old.

I like the corrective turn coach Marlin is making.

In my oinion he is making all the right move to get the players to play as a team.

I would go so far as to say yes it is costing wins now, but will generate wins for years to come.

If a win now was all he was after, he would have played Andrews.

I say we fire him, Turbine. Anyone that can't turn around a bad program in less than 10 games should be let go.

That is the most idiotic statement I have ever heard. I know that I am new to the board, but that is stupid. Marlin was the winningist (sp?) coach in TX over the past ten years, over UT, TAMU, TTU, and Baylor. He came into a crappy program with crappy players that do not know how to play real basketball. All they want to do is make a highlight reel.

He will turn this program around let him run off some of the baggage and they will start getting better.
