Thread: 2002 - Bustle Is Promised Scheduling Duties

  1. Default

It is good to play "big" D1 teams but sometime enough is enough.

  2. Default Re: Bustle promised future scheduling decisions

Anyone think Bustle was given what he was promised?

you know......i understand that you guys are concern about the toughness of the schedule, well, as a former athlete, i wouldn't have any other way, besides how do you measure the level of improvement you have made or hope to make, to me it's playing good solid competition, maybe not as many, but that's how you get better in the long run, as a recruit that's what i'd look at.....play the hand that you are dealt, no crying, strap it on and let's get to work in my opinion, we will get there and be the better for it. _
When I watched the clip that was what I was thinking. Troy and ULM go to the big boys not crying but actually thinking they will win. I wonder what Bustle's attitude is? Boys lets try not to get hurt and collect a check? All we are asking is for a little respect...just a little bit...

Are you putting words in his mouth or do you have a clip?

I'm asking if you think he was given what he was promised. It doesn't matter really (just curious) the guy who made the promise is gone.

ps at time I loaded the clip (2003) UL had the 24th toughest schedule in the country.

No, I don't think he has much say so in scheduling up to this point.

Regarding a comparison between our schedule and other SBC teams, our strength of schedule is not too difficult, just the arrangement of the schedule. The schedule would be much better if the beginning (first half) had 1 or 2 more home games sprinkled in. You can say the second half is much better BUT potential fans in the stands will look at wins and losses, not "how well you played".

It is what it is, so let's just strap it on and go!

He didn't say that exactly. He was taking a shot at who makes the schedule. It was on the KATC web page the other day.

Having to deal with the 24th toughest schedule in the country is not fair to coach Bustle or his staff or the players. No BCS school so far has had it as tough as Louisiana has.

Fortunately for fans of Louisiana, Dr. Authement promised coach Bustle he could make his own schedule in the future, after this string of guaranteed loss games was over.

Here is a snippet from Coach Bustle’s initial press conference after he was hired. He was asked the question "How much will you have to do with scheduling?" Dr. Authement is the "you" in coach Bustles reply.

The voice that chimes in is that of former play by play announcer for the Cajuns; Todd Hamilton.

The second voice is that of Nelson, answering how long coach Bustles contract is.

I don't recall your schedule that year, but it must have been hell on wheels. Last year you played USC and the Vols OOC and Warren Nolan had you like 200, if I'm not mistaken.

To answer your question from a non-true Cajun fan point of view, I think Coach Bustle has been given every chance to produce what was expected of him in the win-loss game.

I can't be sure but if I recall it was to that point in the season. I just wish I had put a link to my source back then. At the time I was more focused with the audio. It wasn't a big deal it was a reminder that 2004 and Bustle's hand picked schedule was around the corner.

I don't see the answer my question "Was he given what he was promised?"

Now to reply to your slight twist of tangent statement concerning has Bustle given what he promised UL? The answer is no, but you have to remember he is using the Beamer model and this is the year

    Enjoy

While the schedule makers have tried to overturn the apple cart, there is no stoping the Beamer model.
