    Default Gut Reaction

What would your gut reaction be if the news come out that one of the following three guys are hired?

    Mark Hudspeth....

    Mike Sewak.....

    Joe Deforest.....

    For me.....

Mark Hudspeth....Great hire, hopefully it works out.

Joe Deforest....Good for the local guy, another guy with no head coaching experience.

Mike Sewak.....Meh, Farmer hired his buddy

    Hudspeth-excitement

DeForest- Acceptance he interviewed the best

Sewak-Significant Disappointment. He may be a great coach but I believe some of our best young players would leave if he came on board with plans on inserting the option. I also am skeptical we can make a quick turnaround with such a major transition with his plan.

If you don't want Sewak to get hired specifically because he runs the triple option, I get that. I don't agree, but I get where you're coming from. However, him being hired would not just be Farmer hiring his buddy. Compare the two's resumes. In my opinion, Sewak has better big time coordinator experience (many years under Paul Johnson vs. one year at Miss. State) and better head coaching experience (4 years at FCS vs. 7 at Div. II).

My other though would be. Say goodbye to passing QB recruits or wide receivers, cuz they ain't coming if you put the ball in the air ten times a game.

Agreed. I am underwhelmed with this potential candidate and while I thought we should insert the triple option this year in our spread attack, that is different than running it out of the flexbone or some run-tradition attack. It's one thing to run this offense at Army but I'm not a fan of limiting your balance on offense. Sorry. I'm not that enthused about Deforest to be honest. With the money we are willing to spend, I was hoping we'd have more candidates that have had more experience at this level as either a big coordinator or head coaching experience. I think North Texas made a great hire and I wish we could do the same.

Ditto to Mike's assessment of the coaches and to your comments regarding how recruiting would suffer or at least change significantly. I will be significantly disappointed if it is Sewak or any other triple option guy for the same reasons stated.

Hudspeth - got our guy, totally ecstatic, 100% confident in his ability to take this program places it's never been.

DeForest - a little bit of a wait and see attitude, but still extremely excited about his potential.

Sewak - bothered that it will take some time to completely turn over the roster, but optimistic that the triple option could take that Belt by storm.

Is Gunter Brewer not in the mix anymore?

I've been told no, by multiple people here and in Oklahoma.

Brewer has little interest. Pretty sure he is not going to be interviewed.

I seriously doubt Dave Wannstadt would:

    A. Leave the BCS

    AND/OR

    B. Take a HUGE pay-cut to come coach here.
