Any hire is a risky hire because we just don't know how it will turn out. Stokely was the OC at Clemson. Bustle was the OC at VA Tech. There are no guarantees. If Orgeron is chosen, then let's go with it. I'll trust the final decision of UL. It is being made with different people than in the past and with a different agenda for UL athletics. And, keep in mind that $750K in LA = $500K in Lafayette, which should be affordable and loaded with incentives. UNT is paying $585K for a former Iowa State HC. We have a shot at a former SEC coach, a current USC coach, a guy from Louisiana, and a top recruiter who would also bring sizzle to the hire and make a statement that UL is really serious about football. I think unless and until something like this happens, we may not see the kind of outpouring of support we need. Football drives everything, not basketball. I'm not sure we can make a hire of some unknown but solid guy and get people fired up. As I said, there are no guarantees. IMO, most people would rather take the risk on a high profile guy than an unknown entity.

Dennis Franchione's name just surfaced today in the Houston Chronicle as a candidate for the Texas State job.

Once Justin Fuente leaves Memphis, that may be HUD'S landing spot. They are paying Fuente 1.5 million.

Memphis is basically North Mississippi. Its about as close as he can get to a P5 program, in the area of Mississippi St or Ole Miss.

HUD is not ready for the SEC.
