Thread: Ed Orgeron

  1. Default Re: New coach?

I would not hire any coach from a BCS school, if that has been his only connection to coaching, in say the last 5 years.

I was expecting to wake up this morning and see something new on one of the "new coach" threads. But.nothing. I guess I'll go drink my coffee.

Mike Leach-Former Texas Tech Coach (I doubt he would come but wouldn't it be GREAT!)
Jim Leavitt-Recently appiled at North Texas
Dennis Franchione- Recently applies at North Texas
Jeff Bower- Former Southern Miss Coach
    Brent Venables-DC Oklahoma
    Phillip Fulmer-Former Tennesse Coach _
That won't work. It is Texas State's candidate list.
Actually, several of those names were mentioned in the San Antonio paper this morning, but the main one was Franchione. Has ties to TxSt, lives in TX. Not sure he would take it; but you never know.

I know, I can't figure out if it is a good thing or a bad thing. I am probably being a little too impatient.

I know we are all anxious, particularly me, but this just reinforces to me that the administration is doing as thorough a job as is humanly possible. They know how critical this hire is and they don't want to get it wrong any more than we want them to.

    It's worth the wait!

Agreed Think back for a moment on one of our prior coaching hires.

Dr. A. "Nelson where are you?

Nelson. " On the road headed to do that interview"

Dr. A. "Why don't you turn that car around and head on back home I've found our man!!

I'm all for a little patience and finding the right person.

Leavitt was a name I liked a few months ago when we were just throwing names around. Never heard anything else about him since the search has started. I'd still be interested to see him getting an interview.

He has not been on here the past couple of days, I think he is keeping silent until after the UCLA game.
