Thread: Four interviewees confirmed....

I still would rather see one of the option guys (Sewak, Monken) get the job. Several reasons...
    1. The Flexbone offense would be unique in the Sun Belt, making it very difficult to prepare for. Many coaches whose team plays against Navy say that they put in time each week of the year preparing to play against the option because it takes so long to learn.
    2. UL will be able to recruit some of the undersized or looked over, though still highly talented, recruits from the region who would otherwise be moved to other positions (especially QBs). A smaller offense line is preferable in this offense and again, these guys are easier to sign.
    3. An option guy is much less likely to use UL as a stepping stone. While it is a good offense for a mid-sized school like UL, many of the bigger schools still refuse to use the option because using anything that is not "pro-style" can scare away some of the elite (NFL Caliber) recruits.

Find out what Jim Fassel is making, you said you wanted a big successful name.

Regarding Crowton. Why would LSU pay for anything? From what I understand, his contract is up at LSU.

Someone tell me if I'm the only one that really really really DOES NOT want Crowton?????

Wasn't mr. toothpick set to be fired when we hired him as well?

Coaches are interviewed because, in addition to their resumes, their peers look upon them with respect.

But coaches are hired because they simply score a knockout during the interview process.

Whomever winds up the choice will probably deliver the same knockout blow to the fans after he is hired.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is, the guy with the best look on paper doesn't always get the job. But, if Scott and David do their diligence as they did in the basketball hire, the choice will be the right choice for the future of UL football.

I can't wait to see how this plays out. A lot of us may be surprised when the annoucement is made. _
I seriously doubt I will have any qualms with whomever they hire. I see something I like in every name mentioned.

I will say this; don't interview anyone you don't already think is 100% hirable. With the exception being you are going through the motions because you already have your choice in hand.

I agree, run the ball and play defense. I think we already have the athletes in place to run this kind of offense.

I am no long pushing my boy because he has no shot. But I just saying that Hudspeth does not have much D1 experience and Viator was being put down because he does not coach D1 athletes and would not be able to recruit D1 players which is BS.

You really think some of our linemen have enough speed and quickness to run this offense? I thnk we have a couple who coudl probably do it but we also have at least one returning who is still recovering from the windburn he got from so many DE blowing by him before he could even get out of his stance. That lack of quickness resulted in our QB scrambling for his life in the last home game and getting sacked, if I remember correctly, three consecutive plays on our last possession.

Kinda illustrate my point there... the big men that UL can get are usually not very athletic.. I'd rather get the guys that are considered too small for a prostyle SEC offense, but are still very skilled and able to be option linemen.

The answer to your question is yes.
