I was told today that Carl Pelini is very interested in the job and that he contacted Louie Cook today and asked Louie to put in a good word for him. Louie went up to Nebraska this past summer for a coaches clinic and the two got to know each other.

Does Carl have any ties to the purple thing on the other side of the river?
no. his brother is the only link he has to there and i since saban is no longer there and hated by the purple and mustard people across the basin, i don't think it is even worth mentioning that. wasn't even working under his brother when bo pelini was working under saban. was up in the mid-west during his brothers days at tigger stadium
Assuming for half a second that the interest in the position was true and mutual from both ends, he would automatically vault to the top of my list of candidates without hesitation. I want a defensive minded coach who can recruit the type of player that is physical, especially on the front line and LB and has a reputation as such. His success in quick time at Nebraska would definitely be a plus to recruits and I think he would bring in a good product.
